Toomuchdebt Would your life be much affected if you were to slip out of the playground and remove yourself from the circle of acquaintances you are in? It is difficult when one realised that relationships are not balanced and reciprocal but they are draining too.

Hope you don't fret too much, and that HB get themselves sorted when you get in to speak with them.

  • What a lovely day it is out there, He Who Knows has gone to the lottie and I've got the throws from the sofa in the washing machine to go outside to dry, the house is clean and tidy and all I've got left to do is a bit of ironing. We put up the garden furniture last evening so I'm hoping we'll have lunch in the garden today.

The willow slips we planted last year all have little green leaf buds on them so we're going to tie them in to the wigwam shape we want them to grow into and have put a sturdy pole in the centre of the wigwam and screwed a hefty screw into the top of it to tie all the willow ends to with a piece of string from each. Then I'll weave some wire at different levels to hold the shape and hopefully it will grow that way in the future. Thanks to GREENBEE for the donation of the willow which is going to do the job very nicely indeed. It will be such fun for Zebra to have his own little house when he comes to visit. DD1 is going to have him for the weekend for the first time, it's his Dads birthday on Saturday and DD2 is taking him out for the day and giving him a spa day and then DD1 will stay over at their house and have the baby monitor to give them an undisturbed night if he wakes. I think she's going to take Zebra to the Zoo if he's in a sunny mood or to the park for the swings if he's grumpy, either way she'll enjoy the day with her nephew eho really is the other delight in her life as well as Pushycat!

I agree with Floss, Toomuchdebt. You need to take a step back from this group, conserve your energy and resources for yourself and hopefully for people that will appreciate it and reciprocate. I realise we don't do things for others with a personal benefit in mind, but decent friends do come to our aid in times of need and if they don't they're not decent friends.

MIL has managed to push and has an appointment tomorrow for FIL at the fracture clinic. They're prepared to pay and go private if need be, the concern being that they're treating him and this injury as though it doesn't matter how it heals given his age, but he's a very keen road cyclist who out performs guys 25 years younger and is not apt to give up any time soon.

No progress on the flat sale or on house work, in limbo waiting for money really. Even the simplest of tasks need tools/supplies that we just don't have yet. Patience is trying :o

Was very glad to pick up a reduced family meat pie, some veg and meat yesterday. It just about made my week :rotfl:

Tomuchdebt: Just popped in to say that you probably see people in groups chatting and laughing together and imagine that everyone in the world is part of a great friendship group. It ain't necessarily so. True friendship is a rare and precious thing. You are very lucky if you have two or three really good friends, most of the others will be acquaintances that you just talk to when you meet and interact with on a fairly superficial basis. I have lived a long time and moved around quite a bit and found that most 'friends' are only friends when you are around. In spite of fervent promises to keep in touch when you (or they) move contact soon drops off. I get loads of Christmas cards from such friends but that is the only time we correspond.
However, I have 4 or 5 keepers who I can say anything to and know they will understand.

Friends will find you eventually, and don't forget that saying " to have a friend you must first be a friend. Love and hugs, you have plenty of friends on here.

I don't know why a warm day when I can be outside in the garden is such a boost to the spirits, but it IS! we've been pottering in the garden most of the afternoon, had lunch outside in the sun and got so much done, nothing big just bits like hoeing out stray raspberry shoots and taking the last of the old side branches off the blackberries, pulling up a few foxglove seedlings that were crowding the bases of my rosemary bushes and nut bushes, potting up a loganberry strike for a friend and clearing out the rickety shed which will be dismantled and taken to a friend who has hired a big skip and has room for it. Nothing life changing or major but we both feel so much better for having been out in the sun, in the warm and in the fresh air. Spring is definately springing, finally!!!

In fact He Who Knows is feeling so well from being outside that he's gone up for a half hour nap!!! Maybe we did more than I realised!

I've been oot all day, had morning tea & scone in a posh hotel then a bacon roll in a truck stop cafe, and (too much) walking around in between. Gone pink round the edges now and too tired to stand up - so at least I should sleep tonight!

I don't know how time slips away really. Saw DH's grandmother today for the first time since his grandfather died. She is doing amazingly well, considering they were married for 74 years. I suppose she has been mourning the gradual loss of him for a while now and worn herself out caring for him. I brought her over to see the house which she hadn't seen yet. Hopefully next time she comes it will be almost finished.
Well wishes to everyone who needs them. I am feeling very unreasonably fed up and weepy for no reason so it's probably some hormonal swing.

Too much debt - I can only second the other comments on the group but hugs to you. It can make you feel very isolated but you do have friends here.
Mardatha - Glad you got out and about today - sounded really nice.
Mrs L - being doing pretty much the same as you - too nice to spend the day doing housework! I've pruned , planted and power washed while DH mowed the grass and cleared up the woodpile and swept up - garden looks really neat now and the green house ready for the tomatoes, cucumbers and a pepper. Potatoes chitted and green beans will go out in a couple of weeks. So much in the garden is bursting into bud aftera little sunshine - ain't nature wonderful!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

In the end I didn't sleep well, too achey and got up for painkillers and hot milk lol. The posh hotel felt really haunted, I would have liked to spend a night in there and take a wander at 2am, so I just googled it. Was built in 1750 for the stage coaches! Huge beautiful rooms and such a feeling of silence and stillness - pity it's £110 a night lol
