Sounds as if youve all had a good easter , where did it go ?.....No sooner it was Friday and now Monday as gone ......
Its lovely to have such a long weekend and especially as the weather is now getting better , I ended up digging quite a lot of old lawn up , and putting some fresh soil back down (chickens run dirt), so that should make the new grass seed grow , took 3 barrow load out of hens run to level the existing lawn , put seed down raked in and watered , it had better come up nice as ive nearly killed myself doing that this morning , I feel relieved now its done , all I have to do now is water it daily and it will soon make a nice lawn......
Burtha......6 dogs to bath , wow , how many old towels did you use.?....At least you have lovely smelling dogs now....
Softstuff.....Sorry to hear about your FIL.....
Shanks77.....Yea l'll come and clean for you...
Weather forcast for the next 5 days is warm sunshine and up to 18 degrees, that will make the weeds grow...SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
Evening all,
OH is putting together carrot and kidney bean burgers so I'm relaxing. We've had such lovely sunshine and I've even got a bit done in the garden. Some seeds from last year have gone out--spinach under my new cloche and in a windowsill some courgettes. The flowers have been moved out as well given the risk of a hard frost seems to have passed. Plan for tomorrow is to work on touching up some paint downstairs in the afternoon--we'll probably do the entryway tomorrow and then the dining room the next day as Maggie the Cat will need to be switched between the two. She can't be trusted to be around paint as she thinks she should be INVOLVED in things like that. I can't imagine bathing six dogs, Burtha--I think I'm probably better with self-cleaning animals!
Maggie has her booster jabs tomorrow. The V-E-T is only around the corner, so I think OH will take her as I don't do well with the pointy things and he will be better for holding her. If I get time I may work on sewing tomorrow, although I've hit a bit of a problem. I think I've put the collar on the dress wrong and I'm not sure if the best course of action is to fold it up the way I can make it sit properly and sew it in place or to take it off and put it back on. Might try to take a photo and post on the sewing boards. My mum would be my usual port of call, but she and dad are on a holiday and she doesn't have access to e-mail.
I'm not so great at joining in community activities. I've been worse these past few years as I've had a lot on my plate and needed to say no to more things. I've thought of trying to find something, and may try the WI in the next borough. Although OH and I have considered where we might like to buy a house and lean towards a small town that is one of the things that makes me wary of living in a small village or town. Although I like the idea of a close knit community, in practice I often find them exhausting and I struggle to keep up attending much less making a meaningful contribution. I really applaud those who keep them ticking over.0 -
Hi all, we've been in the garden all afternoon sorting out, sweeping, taking out dead wood and generally tidying it all up and repositioning the garden furniture and it looks lovey. DD bought and has planted out some broad bean plants, some second early potatoes which are chitting on the windowsill upstairs and will be planted out in a couple of weeks when the sprouts are big enough. It was so lovely and sunny and warm and a real pleasure to be outside. We had a celebratory outside cuppa when we'd got all the deadwood chopped up and into the green waste bin too, lovely!!! We even had that Pushycat out on his harness and lead and he had a nice explore of the garden, smashing stuff. I hope you have all had a lovely day too, Lyn xxx.0

Hester, I went for an eye test on Monday and got sent to Moorfields (which happened to be next door so handy) and the condition they diagnosed is treated with a Jetrea injection if it doesn't resolve. Do you mind my asking - how long did they 'watch and wait' before deciding to go for the injection? I'm finding it really hard on my eyes to do any sewing atm, I'm full of admiration for you managing to do so muchIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Thanks for all the well wishes for FIL. Popped in on him last night, he's dopey as all hell, has a magnificent headache and is feeling quite depressed all round. Think the hospital left them a bit unprepared really, sent him home with a day and a half prescription painkillers on the start of a public holiday weekend with very little ongoing advice. They don't have private health insurance, so as a result the hospital is an hour away as opposed to 5 minutes and was a bit more under seige. Rather than be seen by someone for the broken collarbone there and then he was told he'd get a call to see someone at some point this week. He'll be heading to his GP today I dare say.=
Softstuff: Tell your DH that food disappears in a trice but cherrywood tables will last for ever.
Apologies if my thanks come late or if I'm not around, but my laptop has cacked itself. Which frankly is starting to be a bit of a theme around here.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Jetrea injections are usually used to treat macular degeneration & they seem to start the treatment almost immediately, I had/have a tent in my eye & they waited 2 years to see if it would release I then delayed it for another year as I was still managing. It only has a 50% chance of releasing the tent and also causes a cataract. The cataract then needs treatment also the tent can be released surgically if the injection doesn't release it. I have to go back in a week or so to see if the treatment has worked. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions on here or by pm.

Hester, thanks for that. I have vitreomacular traction which is where a bit of the vitreous in the middle of the eye is not peeling away from the retina/macular properly. They will wait to see if it sorts itself out before resorting to the injection - sounds as if they waited two years with you. I've already had my cataracts done so don't need to worry about that but I also have glaucoma so am a bit anxious about anything that affects the central vision as well.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Thanks for asking after me Sheila, you are thoughtful. Yes my little family and I are all fine, usual ups and downs but mostly going with the flow nicely. Nothing much to update you on really. I pop in here sometimes but haven't kept up with all the posts. I hope you and your family are well.
Hello to everyone else too, I hope you are all enjoying spring and have some sunshine. It is lovely here in Essex today and I am enjoying having the children home for the holidays.0
