Softstuff it got made, it was delish, and because I share it into 4 small dishes before cooking there is some for tonight too :D

Am on pre-Christmas-tree-decorating-clean duty today. The windows & wooden floor in the living room bay won't be accessible for 4 weeks so they always get a proper doing before DH does the tree!

Tomorrow I am making the biscotti for gifts, and wrapping DH's birthday & Christmas gifts while he's away ;)

Floss I will be on find-somewhere-to-put-the-stuff-from-the-coffee-table duty to make room for our little tree :D OH has decided it's Time, and has got the box of Christmas ornaments out (including an oh-so-tasteful Lego Christmas scene, but he loves it :))

The trouble is, we already have far too much clutter, and now it will be even worse while the ornaments are out:(

P.s. Could be worse, at least there are no paper chains here these days :D

Everyone seems to be well advanced with their Christmas preps. I admire and envy you all. DIL bought a tree a few days ago and it was immediately decorated, Angel on the top and twinkling lights. Within 4 days most of the needles were in the vacuum and the decorations adorned bare branches.
They took it back and were issued with profuse apologies and a larger, bushier, more expensive replacement. Once DS had sawn the top off, the decorating process started again. It looks gorgeous.

I was out yesterday at a church Christmas lunch (I was eating this time, not cooking) and ended up at a friend's house for the rest of the afternoon/evening.

This means that the rest of my cards and letters did not get written.
    Heigh Ho.

I have tried to order a spray bottle of perfume for an old friend. I get her one every Christmas and have never had a problem. I have to order it because it is not fashionable now, if it ever was.
Yes, I could order it but it could not be delivered to my address. Sorry?
After much investigation I was told that it couldn't be sent 'over water'.
Has anyone ever heard of this?
Anyway, I did find a firm that appeared to be unaware of this embargo and are sending me a bottle. Good grief! We are talking the Solent here, not the Atlantic.
I will be wrapping it up and sending it back over the water quite illegally. If challenged I will plead ignorance/insanity, and only one of those is a lie.

See you all when I've finished the cards and letters. At the present rate of progress that should be about mid-January.

Monnagran, I managed to send a bottle of perfume to England. A considerably longer distance over water. So far the universe hasn't imploded, so I think you'll be fine ;)

I'm betting Monnagran, you'll be finished with your cards before me at this rate :rotfl: I was plastering at 4.30am.... it seemed the right thing to tackle before work. I worry about my sanity sometimes.

Ivyleaf We have no room for a tree at all (well I do have two 5 inch tall trees in silver painted baskets fully decorated) I used to put them on the mantlepiece. We don't have one now.

I put all the plants not flowering now in the bathroom, I have put the two trees and a Father Christmas ornament on the windowsill between plants plus a couple of posies of artificial poinsettias with gold edges and gold beads into two planters. Then I filled the rest of the windowsill with all the shinny tree ornament.

softstuff I have your lovely felt tree on the coffee table waiting for DS to hammer a picture hook into the wall to hang it on. We got our first Christmas card today.

nursemaggie Your windowsill sounds beautiful! What an ingenious solution! :T

Softstuff Plastering when you could have been writing Christmas cards? I was going to suggest that was "displacement activity", but actually I think I'd prefer plastering too (only I wouldn't know where to start with the trowel.).
When I made a list of the cards that needed to be written in time to go by 2nd class post there were only 26, so not too bad. I got 16 of them done this afternoon.

To judge by some of the ones we've received so far, glitter is back with a vengeance  We now have a more Christmassy-looking carpet!
