    Hello everyone :)

I have "Man Flu" which as I caught it off DH I feel justified in calling it that. I managed a full day at work yesterday, but I don't really remember getting home. I'm going to stay at home for Easter and not risk infecting my DPIL.

I got a phone call earlier that put everything into perspective though. My friend's DH has been admitted to hospital with a heart attack. Thankfully we live very close to one of the top heart centres in the country and he is in good hands. It makes me whining about my cold seem stupid. So any good thoughts/energy/prayers for Vic would be greatly appreciated.

    Take care everyone xxx

Will admit to not watching it, as I knew I'd be likely to feel like throwing things through the tv screen at two of them:rotfl:.

So - what were the overall feelings about how they came over?...and not forgetting the men of course....

Did not see it all only what was on the news and Newsnight was late last night so not available on iplayer last night will have to watch later today.

I am quite impressed with the women of the smaller parties in general they conduct themselves well and command respect. I am very impressed with the SNP leader. I tend to agree with my DS she talks a lot of sense on her general politics pity she is the leader of a Nationalist party that is of no use to the majority of us.

    Happy Easter to everyone.

    Morning fencers.

I didn't watch the debate as I'm a bit disillusioned with politics to be honest. I used to really keep up and read the manifestos but it did me no good last time as they were all lies so I'm struggling to find the enthusiasm to listen now.

Having said that, I think that women conduct themselves better than men in a lot of aspects of life, especially business meetings.

I'm having a quiet day today. I'm on my own (well I have the dogs with me), it's raining and I can do what ever I want. Tomorrow I am going out with DD and her boyfriend.

Normally on Good Friday I would go to church as I've always done at Christmas (and some other times too), but since I was ill at Christmas and didn't want to spread my germs, I've not been back. Any praying has been done in private (and listened too) and I'm again struggling to be involved in anything structured. Add to that, that not one person from the congregation bothered to see if I was alright, and I think I'll stick with my virtual friends on here. Sorry if I've offended anyone with this paragraph.

I've just finished a hot cross bun for breakfast, must wash up now.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all,

We did end up watching all of the debate. I think the women did perform well and had the most detail in their policies. Interestingly they also managed to get several words in edgewise. OH thinks it is probably because they all represent marginal parties so they weren't seen as 'real' competition. I tend to agree, although I also suspect it is because the big 3 parties lack substance in their policies and they know that their rhetoric sounds hollow. There were, of course, some jaw dropping moments and there was a lot of eye rolling on our part as well, mostly down to one particular man whose name I refuse to mention anywhere as I think he gets too much attention and that this suits him. Unfortunately I think the big three were rehashing many of the same policies and in one case I think they're proposal to save a few million pounds on one thing got spent three or four different times in the debate.

Jazee, hugs. I hope you find something nice to do and that you enjoyed your hot cross bun.

Not sure what today will hold. The gym says that it is open, but I feel sure this can't be right. May phone up and see. Otherwise it will probably be a bit of sewing and then some chores. Might do some handwashing today. The landlord has agreed we can stay and has also okayed a bit of minor redecorating downstairs which will be nice. He did say he wanted to come round and see the house and discuss the terms, so there could still be mention of a rent rise. OH thinks he will put the rent up at least a bit as its been two years and the house could now rent for a bit more each month, but I suspect he realizes we're good tenants and that as his mortgage on the house hasn't increased he won't risk losing us and having to find new tenants. It is much nicer dealing with a person than a company. I've done it both ways several times and would take a private LL over a letting agency any day.

Roast chicken and veg for tea tonight and will bake a batch of sour dough rolls for sandwiches tomorrow. Fortunately neither of us minds a plate of veg with a slice or two of chicken so there is plenty for sandwiches and then enough to make a big chicken and leek pie later, sometimes even some left after that. We're taking a day trip tomorrow but haven't decided between Sheffield and Southport. I'll also have to inform OH that he is in charge of the carrot and kidney bean burgers tomorrow, and will make sure I do enough rolls to use some for the burgers.

I think we're almost out of cookies, so will have to find a simple recipe for a cake or something else without eggs. I suspect the wartime books will come in handy for that.

    Morning all, :)

Lurker just popping my head over the [short end! ] of the fence. Yesterday I was in the kitchen with dgd and ds was in the living room, when he suddenly says, Mum a rat has just run across the floor!!

I shove the deerhound out and shut dgd in the kitchen , grab a broom and go to see, yep, its a rat.. looks ill/poisoned? Ds says, where's my weapon?! ,cue giggles from the kitchen, grab another broom and shift some furniture to get it ,swift despatch from ds and drama over, phew! :T
When the weather is dry I always have the doors open but this has made me think again .See more rats in town than on the farm,ds is a farmer and is bringing a bait box today.

Anyway , I have hm bread and hm lemon curd if any one wants some? help yourself , made by dgd, 12 yesterday,

    Have a good day all

((HUGS)) Jazee. It sounds as if praying in private is what's best for you at the moment xx

SDG So sorry to hear about Vic. I'll pray for him and his family, and I know those on here who don't pray will send good vibes/good wishes, it all helps! I hope your cold gets better soon. They do make you feel miz. xx

Happy Easter Camelot! Enjoy your well-deserved break :j

Toomuchdebt That must have been dreadful :( I'm so glad you managed to move!

chickens monnagran posted a couple of times recently; she and the Rev had had a nasty virus which left them exhausted and she didn't manage to post for a while, but she was starting to get some energy back but still getting tired. I expect she's still trying to catch up with the things she couldn't do while she was ill.

Toomuchdebt, just realized I missed your post. I'm sorry you had to move. Fortunately the kids who play out around ours are fairly nice. They can get a bit loud at times, but usually only on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and they always make sure not to kick their balls near pedestrians. There were some who started coming round that weren't so nice and were using drugs and shouting, but they were quickly dealt with by our local community support officer and sent packing. I was relieved, I'd hate to see them influence the kids on our road.

    .

Now, who could you possibly mean? :rotfl:
I too thought the women did well. I read that it had been planned in advance how long each person would have a chance to speak at one time, and it seemed to work fairly well. i didn't envy Julie Etchingham though!

grandmasam Rats?:eek::eek: Nice to see you though!
