I don't know what it would be in England Fuddle, dirt cheap here though and plenty of online recipes (was just hoping for tried, tested and trusted!). Works out about 70p for 500g

  • May I de lurk to say that I once gave in to DH 's request to cook hearts for him, he had fond memories of his mother preparing them just after the war. I cooked them very slowly, but still I couldn't eat them. Couldn't even chew them. So good luck and do let us know how they turn out.

This has a demo on how to clean beef heart if it is not already been done. :)
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

  • Sneaks in and stuffs the missing spoons down the back of a cushion, oops and retrieves bra from the lampshade.
Handcuffs also duly returned to blushing PC, as for the rest, in the words of the inimitable Betty Bacall, just whistle!

Floss, enjoy your coffee, Softstuff my SIL used to slow roast beef heart, she served it with stuffing, mash and cabbage.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • A quiet night in tonight for us then, sat beside the fireside with our slippers with pom poms on them keeping our tootsies warm, our wooley shawls wrapped round our shoulders to stop the drafts, hairnets over our rollers and a chiffon scarf over all of it for decencys sake, cup of ovaltine to restore our energy after the excitements and exercise of yesterday and the archers on the radio as long as it's not too exciting.........Have fun folks, we're off to the PUB!!!

*Shuffles in* Ohhh me head.... nothing worse than a Sherry hangover.. I,ve bought my rubber gloves to help with the clean up - anyone found a shoe, I got home with only one....

As my darling boy told me after freshers week - 'The party only stops when you do....'

Lyn - mines a cider, and maybe a bowl of cheesy chips - a proven hangover cure
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Please creep in quietly when you get back from the pub Mrs LW as we will all be asleep!

Wols, I'm making wols, DGD wants a wol, a wol she will get, I may have a virtual hangover but I can still crochet a wol for DGD.
She is 5 and calls owls, wols, I found a really easy pattern, I have until 3 o'clock Friday when I collect her from school, I should be able to make a couple because you can bet your life if one DGD wants a wol, the others will want one too.

This is a bit more my speed. I think I might be one of the oldest and most curmudgeonly thirty-somethings out there. I can't be doing with late nights and conga lines but I'll gladly let the rest of you get on with it. I'll take a cocoa, a lap rug and a hot water bottle. I know, probably not what you all pictured from my username :D
  • We Have a French friend from Lyon who always calls owls WOLS, in all the time (years) she lived here in the UK I could NOT get her to say owls. If I remember correctly a French owl is an Hibou???of course I might just have made that up.......

FPK your name and all your posts make me think HOME, and someone who loves home and homey things, and homey occupations. Someone who feels immense satisfaction and achievement in making what you and your DH do have the best and glorying in being able to make that homey feeling on a shoestring. Makes me think of you as warm, pink, happy, gentle, comfortable and because of your name with little gossamer wings.
