OK. Party-time begins today. Don't worry about trashing the place, it has already happened. Don't worry about food, the fridge is full to bursting of half eaten bits and pieces which will be fine if you're not too bothered about UseByDates.
Booze may be a problem. If half a bottle of DietCoke will do - come on in.

I'll bring some duty free Monnagran. Could do with escaping the weather anticipated here over the weekend, possible 100mm of rain tomorrow.
As for the estate, he died intestate in Bulgaria, my sister is in England, his widow Bulgaria. He died shortly after his mother, her estate unsettled and his brother not fond of me (to say the least ). An industrial sized can of worms. I intend to do as always, act according to my decency and conscience (which doesn't always mean things go well for me ) and drink whisky.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff, DH has just received his inheritance following the deaths of his mum in October and his dad in December, both in Scotland. Mums estate was not confirmed (Scottish law version of probate) when Dad died, but despite that & a house sale it's been relatively quickly sorted by the eldest of the brothers. Still a lot of signatures & bits of paper though.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Well I don't know where to begin after all that.
Enjoy your "me" time monna. Would be great to come down and all have a holiday as long as Camalot and I can bring the weather. I would leave the cold wind behind.
Hester I take it you mean you have been getting your DH to move things around while you declutter. If not then he should certainly be saying something at work. If he injures himself seriously he will be held more responsible than his employers, if he claims compensation. He could lose more than half the compensation for not asking for assistance and lifting gear.
ivyleaf I think their could have been an error somewhere or even that the letter asking her to come in could have been lost in the post. I think it should have been done by now.
In the last year I have had two CT scan appointments not arrive. I would not have known I had appointments if not told by my nurse, two hospital appointments not arrived. I changed my energy supplier in January and we have been trying to get a direct debit mandate to go both ways ever since. They have had to send it first class recorded delivery this time so I got one this morning. I shall have to send it back recorded delivery. It is illegal to fill one in on line.
I am seriously thinking of reporting Royal Mail to the ombudsman. There must be one for mail. There could be lots of mail I don't know about going astray.
I threatened British Gas with the ombudsman just over two weeks ago because the did not bother to register my new meter when I got it changed from a key meter and kept telling my new supplier I was going back to British Gas. I gave them two weeks to sort it out and they did it in 48 hours. They wrote off my bill, would not have been much as we had only been here two weeks, and gave me £50 compensation.
Hope your father will, will not be as bad to sort out as you think. softstuff
Only thing to do with that sort of rain it check all your drains are working well, stay indoors and pray you will not get flooded.
I think the heatwave is someone's wishful thinking they cannot predict weather more than a few hours ahead it's mainly an estimate when you get a week at a time.0 -
Thanks nursemaggie - she has had her pre-op check a couple of weeks ago, and was told then that they will ring her to offer a date. That's how it's done in this area - they ring first and then confirm by letter. Of course if they can't contact the patient by phone then they just write. That's awful about all your missing appointment letters!
In the meantime, OH had his painful hip x-rayed about 4 weeks ago and the report still hasn't reached the GP despite it being "chased up".
Softstuff Sending you ((HUGS)). Why is it up to you to sort out the estate? Shouldn't his widow do it, especially as she is at least in the right country? Or is she too ill or something? I know there'll be a reason why, just seems to unfair for you to be landed with it just because you're a good person!0 -
Ye gods and little fishes, Softstuff. It couldn't be much more complicated if it was a sit-com.
It was bad enough when my French MIL died in France and I had to deal with a French solicitor who didn't speak English. Me with my very poor and mostly forgotten "O" level French.
All I can suggest is blinkers, a very thick skin and vats of whisky.

ivyleaf I forgot about that I have lost one of those too. It never arrived at the doctors. I also forgot two letter from the hospital pharmacy. When we were without the phone when we moved.
I think Royal Mail is about as reliable as sending a two year old to the shop. I am of the opinion they only bother to deliver circulars, special delivery, anything that needs a signature, other peoples mail and anything with a foreign stamp on it. The rest they just throw away. Just about everything I send never gets there.0 -
Floss, glad your DH got everything sorted. That seems pretty fast all things considered too.:

His widow is sorting out the majority Ivyleaf. That said, because he died without a will I'm involved according to inheritance law there. And because it's over there, simple things like just proving who I am become a bit more complicated. For example, I need a new copy of my UK birth certificate with an apostille attached... any copies of anything need to be certified by a notary public, etc.
And then there is dealing with the other side of things in England, which I won't go into..
Ah well.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
If anyone has problems receiving their post - its always worth keeping a detailed record of what is expected and when. If things are going astray - then its worth "getting the sharp elbows out" for a replacement postman to do your round instead of the one who seems to manage to deliver items late (or not at all).0
