Nurse Maggie would an old-fashioned plate rack at head height around the room work for displaying your special plates?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks Floss. I don't think so, ceilings quite low dresser comes nearly to ceiling, window to the ceiling so I think it would look odd. Can't do that until next year. Not allowed to put up any shelves or anything until we have been here a year.
If I get rid of the little chest of draws I may be able to get hold of some sort of shelf unit that will go on the wall from a CS. We have two furniture ones here. I have plenty of time to get it.0 -
Hubby has a plan, it will mean a massive declutter for me. We are still discussing it, I haven't said no, I wouldn't trample on his dreams, but!
I need time to come to terms with what it will mean to me.
It would mean a complete lifestyle change and it would mean no room for my crafts and hobbies.
As I say I'm thinking about it and trying to find the positives.
Nothing will happen straight away, there are too many family issues to sort out first, we won't do anything until DD2's situation is resolved or at least more stable and this could take years.
I was given flowers and chocolates today, DD2 popped in with flowers but we didn't discuss anything as she rushed in and out again.
Both my son's visited, they offered to take me out for a meal, but I know it would have been rammed everywhere, so I cooked a roast dinner and it was delicious.
I've cleared up the kitchen from dinner, cleared up the living room from where we have DD1's dogs staying (they made nests with my many blankets and my loose yarn!
I still have to iron school uniform for DGS & one of the DGD's, so I best get on.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Glad you all had nice Mothers days. You especially deserve it Monnagran.
Hester your hubbys plan had me very curious indeed.
You seem to be making decent progress NurseMaggie, shame about having to wait a year though for shelves, it seems so arbitrary.
Odd question, does anyone have a bidet? Wondering about one for the main bathroom, just don't know if it looks odd nowadays?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

We had one back in the 80's but when the bathroom was revamped about 5 years ago we took it out as it wasn't really being used much. TBH I would think hard as to whether you would use it very often. Of course you are in a warmer climate and I think they are mainly used by us ladies to keep us cool and fresh! Basically is it a need or a want?Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Monna? Wool stash? Miles away? Your mothers day sounded just the ticket.
Mine was filled with mothering wifey duties as DH is poorly so shepherds pie made. I used cnicken fat to cook yorkshires and got a great rise. Also made butter and buttermilk scones. Happy to report that the sweetness of the fresh buttermilk plus vanilla extract meant that I erdicated the need for sugar.
I did get 2 lovely handmade cards from my girls and some floral gardening gloves wrapped in plain paper decorated with hearts. Well done that DH and 2 girls for not buying into the frills - they know me well eh?
DH has been talking about his grandma today. She actually lived next door but one from my own grandma. My mam and DH's dad played in the street growing up. Canny as we both then lived miles away from our roots. I have a pic of both grandmas sat on my grandma's step. Anyway. She lived a good age and he has come to the conclusion that the OS diet must be better than the diet of today. :rotfl: lovely to have the conversation but really quite funny as i've been living and breathing the ethos for the last 6 years... didn't you notice the floral apron dear :wall: :rotfl:0 -

Well, living in Turkey previously I enjoyed the ability to wash. And I'd told hubby about that and he thought it an excellent idea. After all, why do we think a wipe with paper is enough to be clean? So, a want. But probably not a dear one. It might provoke amusement with visitors I guess.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

If you want one, install it. I know I've appreciated them when travelling in the past. My mum put one in their new house, and another friend has just put one in too.
It's your house, you will be living there, so make it work for how you want to live.0 -
Hester That sounds a bit scary to think about if it's such a big change, but at least it also sounds as if you will have plenty of time to decide if it's the right thing to do (whatever it is)
Softstuff I don't know if they are available in Australia, but over here now you can get toilets that wash and dry you after you've been. Perhaps that'd be a step too far?
Tch, I really shouldn't still be on here so late at night, it means there will be hardly any new posts when I look in the morningbut I'm not in the mood for reading a book, and OH is watching Beowulf (yawn).
