We're just about to downsize so a lot of my kitchen stuff will have to go - my current kitchen is huge, the new one....teeny-tiny. I've also got furniture that gently fills this house that will dwarf the new one so need to be realistic about what we need and how I can redistribute the stuff stored within.

But it's for the greater good as this move will leave us mortgage free which is far more enticing than keeping a dinner service that I've never really liked but had space for so no reason to donate it on.....

    Bring it on!

Ooh, good luck with the move Pooky! I trust there will be enough room in the new home for your crafting though!

Good luck with your move Pooky. Nice to see you again. It takes some creative thinking to fit the essentials in but I think we are getting there.

You should not have any problem with being creative. I hope you are all well.

I'm the opposite, I want a house big enough to swing an army of cats and throw them the length of a football pitch... not that I ever would :) I hate wee poky spaces, I hate shut doors, and I hate blinds and closed curtains. Maybe I really was born in a field.. The RV would happily live in a hen house lol

    Hellooooooo.

This is the best Mothering Sunday I have had for years. DIL's parents have come down to stay for the weekend plus her adult son and his fiancee. So we have had 3 mothers, 4 offspring and a couple of Dads, (but we don't mention them, they are just there to pay for lunch.) Oh, and a couple of grandma's and a grandpa, only 8 in all because some of us had more than one role.

The house is full of cards, flowers and gifts and happy families. We all went to a local hostelry for lunch where the 3 mums had a complimentary glass of sparkly stuff. Now I wouldn't have had such a good time if I hadn't had the trauma that brought me here, would I? It's as well to try to look on the positive things of life. Says she trying to,play the ' glad game' for all for all it's worth.

Mar: I was very glad to read your post because I felt as though I was only one who wanted space around me. I love empty space and calmness, light and air and living in one room with all my stuff piled up round me makes me feel fussed and claustrophobic. Yes i probably could get rid of some things but it's bad enough having to buy new wool because my stash is in a garage miles away. Likewise my sewing machine and all my sewing things are ungetatable. I had to go out and buy needles and thread to mend DS's jumper last week. Darling DIL doesn't do sewing.

Anyway. Sorry to moan when I've had such a lovely day.

So glad you've had a happy day monnagran :)

DS gave me flowers that he'd actually ordered in advance,, from a friend who runs a florist! Hitherto it's been a bunch hastily picked up in Asda on the Sunday afternoon :D

DDs gave me daffodils and truffles :) Spent the afternoon with DD1. DD2 had to go to lunch at her in-laws'. Neither she nor her DH were looking forward to it!

Monna I'm so glad you had such a lovey day . Keep playing the glad game I find it really helps at times . As you say you had a day you didn't imagine a short while ago . Who knows what tomorrow brings .

Glad you had a nice day Monna - sounded really lovely with all the family together. I must admit I'm like you and Mardatha -I need space! Maybe it's because both DH, Sons and I are all 6ft plus!!!
DH went for a run with his friend on their trikes to the Ace Cafe. DS1 and I went down to the boat and scrubbed the deck!! He did buy me a full house breakfast though and it went down a treat. When I got home DS2 had been & left me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a lovely card ( written by DiL) feeling very blessed to have such caring sons & DiL.
DH had a good time & now we're just relaxing with a cuppa.
Have a good evening all xx

Well I managed to move some boxes and find somewhere to put things. I emptied a box and folded it up. Put the box with my wall plates that used to go on the plate rack when we were in West Sussex. I collected most of them down there from CSs most expensive £1.80. Some were brought from DDs travels and I have two with DGC hand prints. They will have to stay in the box until I can put shelves on the wall to display them.

I put another box on top and covered them with a table cloth. We have an ip0d dock that also plays CDs so now I can play my CDs. We don't have an ip0d any more. I rearranged stuff in my bedroom and finally got the two laundry baskets off my chest of draws. One has washing in it and the other contains my sewing machine and a few bits.

Just need to find somewhere for the toy box. I have relocated the tea towels and kitchen towels to the airing cupboard which is in the kitchen. If I can relocate the other things from the little chest of draws I can put the toy box there. I only have the two walls to put things against one wall is way through to kitchen and other is filled with a window.

So happy for those who have had a good mother's day. DS came in from work with a pot of miniature roses. Nice pot and roses are my favourite colour. He got it clearance but I can't complain. After all he is not being paid for all his hard work.

Monna I'm glad you had a lovely day :)

DH and I (both adult orphans now :() did the grown-up thing of an early night yesterday, early cuppa & breakfast followed by a fresh walk along the Prom to say hello to all three piers, topped off by a hot choc in C0sta ::) I got a phone call from DS2 this morning near the Tower and one from DS1 this evening while dishing up our (delayed thanks to Andy Murray!) roast chicken tea :D. Apparently cards are "in the post"...!
