More discussions at school today everyone is being very supportive there and helping DGS as much as possible.
They have provided extra PE kit for him and have offered me some limited financial support if I get into difficulties trying to provide things for him.

Just to bring the thread down to my normal standard, here's a copy of a blog post from a few days ago.

I was awake for three hours last night, at one point I realised that my hands were so dry they were rustling.

So I reached for the pump action bottle of hand cream I keep on the bedside table.

I cupped my hand under the nozzle and pressed down on the pump.

Unfortunately I didn't put on the light so I was doing this in the light of the TV, I watched as a stream of hand cream arched away from me and on to my L&M's arm.

He immediately stirred, I immediately feigned sleep.

    'Eurgh, wassat' he groaned.

I kept very quiet and lay very still.

He nudged me, 'I'm all wet' he complained.

'You mean you've wet the bed?' I asked innocently.

'NO, of course not, my arm is all sticky'

I reached out and scooped up an much hand cream as I could and rubbed my hands together.

'Maybe you had a wet dream' I suggested.

'I'm wet outside the covers and I think I'd know if I had' he grumbled.

'Well I can't feel anything wet' I replied, hurriedly rubbing the hand cream into my arm.

'You probably dreamt it' I reassured him.

:rotfl: Hester! Glad to know school is being helpful.

nursemaggie What lovely news re your DS :j My DGS (now 22) applied for an apprenticeship a few years ago, and got a college place but they couldn't find a firm to take him on. He got there in the end though :) He finished the apprenticeship last summer and has been temping, but is due to start a permanent job with C@pit@. Their selection process was so rigorous that we began to wonder if they were secretly recruiting for MI5 :D so I just hope he likes it when he gets there!

Lol, Richard Emery, Floss, as it won't post the shortened version, Of course that's what I'll tell him SS.
I'm afraid my sense of humour is the only thing keeping me going at the moment.
I have my 5 yo DGD here at present, as we left her dance class hubby gave her a box of Jaffa cakes.
She announced 'Grandpa is kinder than you Nana, he's just given me Jaffa cakes' I know my place!!
I cried at work today, 3 times, as discussions were held about DGS, I'm not normally a crier.
I shall try to talk to DD again tomorrow, but I'm not expecting a breakthrough.
OK, my presence is requested, I need to play schools, DD is the teacher, she has an older sister who usually insists on being the teacher, so when she comes here she makes sure she gets her pick of roles.

Oh the relief of having our Hester back. All the time you can be outrageous we don't have to worry too much.

Isn't it wonderful how we all seem to make gravy like our mum's and grans did. In our house the meat juices were always thickened with Bisto powder and then had the vegetable water added. I made it this way once when entertaining a rather patronising man who fancied himself as a gourmet. He raved about the gravy and asked if I would divulge my secret. When I said, "Bisto", he recoiled in horror. His wife later thanked me for making him look foolish! I never mentioned the glug of red wine.

A lovely day here today. Cold and breezy but wall to wall sunshine. DIL had a day off so CD also took the day off and we went down on the beach so that a well wrapped up 3 year old could make sand castles. We had the entire beach to ourselves as far as the eye could see.
We then retired to an excellent restaurant and had gorgeous sandwiches for lunch, mine was crispy fried chicken with tomato and watercress with a lovely salad garnish and handmade crisps. A quick whizz around L*dl*s and home again.
I've just had a quick check through. I don't know who the mysterious CD is who apparently came with us. I could have sworn that I typed DS.

My mum always used either Bisto or gravy browning...DS1 can't do wheat so I use cornflour with Marmite :)
