Popperwell, my father developed muscular aches which went away when his GP halved his statin dose. So, if your GP thinks you need the statin, you could talk about trying a reduced dose to see if that helps.

Ouch, so sorry to hear about the gout Pops, it's a horrible thing. My husband had it in his ankle last year. At least, they said they thought it was gout but that they couldn't be sure because the blood test didn't always give a correct result when the patient was still in pain?! so they didn't do one.

Of course he got lots of digs about "drinking too much port". we've no idea what caused it!

Nargleblast and ivyleaf thank you(and for some PM's from others too)all help/ideas gratefully received. I've slept the clock round...I must've needed it.

Being sensible and not pushing myself. Some ideas regarding the Statin(a change of tablet/time I take it/the dosage)all now under considersation.

My knee is looking normal again. You feel soft being beaten by such an ailment and all the preconceived ideas of it hold true.

In a good place still but had a wobble last night around 8pm(I awoke from a sleep)perhaps I was dreaming and I had to get out, just paying the rent/utility bills and calling in at Aldi's for bread and cheese(eaten sparingly but mainly for the others in my Sunday Buffet/Bingo group)and coming home made me feel able to settle down and listen to the radio and sleep. Some tidying to do later. The sun is shining, its 24c indoors(not been out yet)

I will post again when I need help and hopefully when I can share something exciting or show I have made headway on my chores. Stay safe. X

Have you tried eating fresh cherries or making cherry juice as that is supposed to be very helpful for gout.

I've been trying to post on here for a while but I keep getting kicked off, and then I keep meaning to look at my settings and never have time to do it.
    So here goes again.
We're all OK, although poor DD (10) has been in hospital again with stomach pains. So not a great summer hols for her. I'm working and it's very flexible but very low paid, so finances are a bit of a struggle. We've managed to do the house up though, mainly because my lovely parents gave us the money to do the (revolting) kitchen. Our new garden is exploding with stuff and if I'm being honest getting to look a bit run down already as I don't have time to do much with it but battle the bindweed. Pruning of roses seems never ending. I like the neighbourhood a little better than I did though, as it's quieter than I thought it would be. We are pootling along.
    Hope everyone else is OK.

Lovely to "see" you Possession  Glad you've settled in all right, but sorry about poor DD :( Hope she's starting to feel better. MSE has had a few problems recently, timing people out/not letting anyone in! It was fixed last week but seems to be plying up again.

Pops Glad your knee looks all rihgt now - I hope the pain's gone too.

elona Thanks for that info about the cherries, I didn't know that but I love cherries and have some in the fridge as we speak (as it were). Awkward if one gets gout when they're not in season...I suppose dried ones would work well though :)

I'm back again(sorry:o)I like the cherry idea(fruit or juice)better than taking the meds, You can even get capsules/tablets at the health stores. Thank you.

Feeling better I took a look at the front garden and decided before it gets out of hand tomorrow morning I will tidy the hedge and lawn(it will be much easier)perhaps an hour, two hours tops just because I am slow.

I'm allowing an hour for house tidying too.

I'll tidy the shrubs at the back over the weekend but the clear out means they are growing well and looking as they should, offering colour and protection on my side of the fence that the neighbours built. Just wondering if I should try and dig them up and move them so there is more space between them? Or leave them as they are.

I am still thinking a section of cottage flowers for bees/butterflies etc...RSPB have an idea how I may be able to attract hedgehogs(even with a fence around the garden)and a homemade small pond for frogs, not sure if I can go to that.:p

For another area I have raspberry, blackberry, tayberry and blueberry plants I am thinking of planting in another area. The birds can have the fruit unless they produce enough for me.

I'll take a look at the bulb situation again.

I think I will try and start painting the fences next week. Do this and I mat be able to mainly just cut lawns a few times during a year.

As I am OK again(well, improved compared to the past week or so) I may see if I can make it to some kind of event this weekend as always nothing and then a few things happen at once. The one I am thinking of is an afternoon of Roman historical type entertainment/displays in a big park. I don't think its free though(£5)never been to the park before unless I go to the coast.

I let myself down a bit tonight and had to go out, managed to fill three hours (but unsure how I did it)I did some people watching on a bench in the town centre(and then made a supermarket shop last a couple of hours)It did the trick though. Just a blip, most of the time I'm fine.

Pops - Raspberries and blueberries need totally different types of soil. Before you plant anything check the type of soil you have - clay, chalky, dry, wet etc and which way your garden faces so you know which part gets the most sun. If you plant things that suit your soil you will have much better results & they won't struggle and need nursing!
If you're not too sure have a look at what does well in your neighbours gardens - its usually a good indicator.
Glad you are improving as gout is a very painful complaint. I think you handled your 'blip' very well and did the right thing to occupy yourself with something different to help distract you

My lilac came out last week! And my buddleia is coming out now, just in time to be ruined by the rain. Farmers up here are in despair over the poor summer, livestock prices are very low and some have spent a fortune on feedstuff that usually are for the winter. I'm busy knitting xmas socks and fighting another flare up of the ME. We also got a new coalbox from MachineMart, so we can stash extra coal this winter.
