Pops have you considered a referral to a podiatrist to get some suitable insoles to help your walking? My DH has some from Boots which make a huge difference to his walking.

Thank you Floss, That's a thought. I wear out the right shoes but the left ones last forever. The heels would probably cost a lot to keep taking to a cobblers and its easier to buy new. That's why I tend to stick to trainers. I can't be doing my right hip any good the way that I lean.

Its too late to think of going to Durham today because the buses only run hourly and I wouldn't get there in time now.:( I held on to see if the weather would improve because we have had torrential rain in my town and I'm only 14 miles from Durham so I expect the same is true there.

The Regatta and the concert are held in the open. Sadly at the afternoon concert there is no shelter for the band(even if the rest of us could hide in the caf! or the museum)I'll probably find out later the weather picked up and the event still happened.

So its a restful quiet Sunday. I may have a quick tidy round and make up the buffet for tonight's bingo. There's a good radio programme of old music to listen to for most of the afternoon(40's to the 70's)

Its put a stop to my gardening for a few days until it dries out but with much of the grass now cut that will happen quicker and the rubbish will break down even quicker. If I'd known the rain was coming I could've put my weed and moss killer/lawn feed on the lawns as within a few hours as it needs rain or watering in. But its probably better to wait until its all done.;)

Sadly, its only around a week a way before the longest day and the days start to get shorter again. But hopefully some lovely days are ahead. Generally, I'm still doing OK:)

Gosh it's quiet by the fence. Must be the weather. I'm about to cosy on down like it's winter and read the paper.

Hope everyone is ok. Mrs LW - hope you're ok, just read your sad new on another thread by chance.

Oh no it's not bad news about Docky is it?
It's a lovely day here though it does keep clouding over but temp is up at about 15 which for this part of Scotland is tropical lol
Sorry you didn't get your trip Pops but hope you have a good win at the bingo.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday folks xx
ETA it is Docky and my heartfelt condolences to MrsLW and hubby xx
  • Hi everyone, thank you all for thinking of us, we sadly lost Docky just over a week ago, his tumour was giving him pain and the wound was troubling him increasingly. He went to sleep at the Vetty persons place gently, peacefully and calmly with both of us there and I held his little head in my hands as he just drifted away to a place where there was no more pain, no more thunder and no more fireworks to be scared of. As good an ending as ever there was. We're obviously very sad and having to learn a new routine as ours of 11 years standing was gone. He was a good friend, a good boy and as much fun as you can have with a dog and still stay legal. Thank you all for your caring and kindness both during his life and to us now, you're brilliant and it's so very much appreciated, Lyn xxx.

I am so sorry to hear the news about Docky and can only imagine how it is affecting everyone. Sadly Docky became ill whilst I was away so I did not know of everything. I have been attached to a number of animals over the years. It takes some getting used to. If you ever really do. :(

I'm sure that he knew how much he was loved. And that was returned.

    Thinking of you, Lyn xx

We spent a couple of days with bro-and-sis-in-law while we were away; they have a lovely Airedale who is such a darling, and he's nearly 14 now. They are astonished he's still with them, and treasure every day with him.

Sorry to hear the news about Docky, Lyn.
I've laughed and cried while reading your and Docky's posts over the time I've been on the forums and I know you will miss him very much. You looked after him well, and dogs do love their owners too in return. He will be missed by many. Sending huge hugs. Take care xx
