Another one here with a B0sch, has a 15 minute cycle and I find I can tweak other cycles by judicious button pressing. When my previous B0sch had a fault after a couple of years, B0sch replaced it, no questions asked, as quite a few of that model had had the same fault apparently.

Another lovely day here, sunny but breezy. Love watching the towels billowing on the line- simple pleasures....

Congrats Softstuff on selling the flat. I didn't think it would take long, after you'd got it all modernised like that.

I reckon that work is the reason why you beat the average time it takes to sell there by a country mile.

Where I am now (West Wales) I've had quite a few people say "Oh...houses take so long to sell here". To which they get the reply "Oh no they don't....what makes a lot of them take so long is the old-fashioned/needing work state of a lot of them. Now if they were in normal modern condition then they would sell much faster".

I watched the houses here online in quite some detail before I came and the ones that represented normal/modern condition to me were gone in a few weeks every time.

Same thing with the starter terrace houses in the street I moved from back in England. One in the same road as mine went in a matter of days just like that - but it had been thoroughly modernised to a luxury standard by someone who had not long bought it and didn't seem to regard it as a "starter" house. Mine was done to fairly standard 1980s condition (as I'd bought it as a "starter" in the 1980s) and it went in the three months I had calculated it would take at that standard pretty much to the day. The condition was the clue in both cases and I'd done mine to a standard compatible with keeping it 5-7 years or so and still being a little "ahead of the crowd" at that point - but then other peoples houses "caught up" to my standard and it was pretty average by the time I sold it.

...Anyhoo, good news :T :j we accepted an offer on the flat. It's subject to various contract conditions, but if all goes well we'll sell in a month. A new record for speed of sale in the complex.... the average is a year :o...

But how many of those flats that take a year or more to sell have been refurbed to the same standard as yours? Great news - hopefully life will be a little more comfortable after that's all completed.

MRSVP - I have absolutely no idea what make our machine is sorry, I would recommend boots online to buy from though, our last one blew its concrete block a few months after we moved here (so almost 4 years ago) and I ordered the new one at 7pm ish, by 9am the next day the new one was delivered. Incredible service and they were competitively priced too.

Have managed to briefly read but we are just back from holiday so its a ll a blur sorry, sending hugs to everyone :)
  • Thank you all for your advice regarding washing machines. OH is currently surfing the net and I have passed all of your comments on to him.

Pooky I am sorry to hear about everything you have been dealing with. Dealing with cognitive impairment is often a more difficult thing for family to deal with than the person with the impairment.

Petula I hope you feel better soon.

I have been sat out in the garden enjoying the sunshine and reading The Help by Kathryn Sockett. I have read it before but there was a copy of it in a pile of books a friend has dropped off for me to read what I am off work and I could not resist reading it again.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Well done on the club burtha sounds like you are making an excellent job of turning it around.
Lovely day here managed to get another load of washing out. Went for a walk along the beach to a seal colony and just pottering around doing bits and pieces as the inclination takes me.
Have a good weekend everyone xx

Pooky what a difficult time you are having with poorly people and your pets! I do hope things are looking up for you soon, all we can do is soldier on through the rough times but please try to find a few minutes (or more) a day just for you to have a breather and rest.

Sheila lovely to hear about the hedgehogs, I love to see them and get very worried if I see one near a road just in case they try to cross.

I'v e been thankful for the NHS this evening, just had to call 111 as I tripped a couple of days ago and the graze is suddenly looking nasty with a red swelling under the skin heading down from knee to ankle. Have been given an out of hours GP appt for later though not at new hosp nearby as out of hours surgery there has been closed after only a few weeks. Hope I get the go ahead to run a 6 mile race I'm supposed to be doing with DD tomorrow morning! We are slow but determined even though we usually trail in last lol.

Have you got anything like tea tree aromatherapy oil? Try putting a few drops of that on the graze if you have.

I think we have all read so many articles recently about the fact that antibiotics have nearly given up working to a large extent - or darn soon will - that I just automatically put a few drops of my teatree oil onto even the most minor of grazes these days just in case...

It is a weird idea to get your head around the fact that something as tiny as a minor graze could be quite "drastic" in its effects and it is taking some doing to adapt to the idea that that's how it sometimes was in the pre-antibiotic era - so it is as well to get into that mindset now of putting something "appropriate" onto even the most minor of grazes now. A more suitable idea than going for antibiotics imo personally.

EDIT; just my own personal opinion fwiw - but if I hadn't got anything like tea tree oil to hand - then I would whack a bit of honey onto that graze. What have you got to lose? Might as well give it a try....

Thank you Moneyistoshort I have used manuka honey as I find it good for all kinds of things but DD was alarmed by spreading redness and heat of skin (poss cellulitis?) and wants me to have it looked at. Haven't taken so much as a paracetamol for years, try to avoid as far as poss. Will see what GP has to say though.
