The Garden Fence - help and support in tough times

Hi everyone, hope your weekend is going fine?. My part of the fence has blown down. Last nights storm pulled out 2 of the wavy lap panels and smashed them. Traveled to town to pay fuel bill this morning and went over on my ankle, so have been hobbling around like an old woman which OH finds amusing. This afternoon I decided to soak up a little sun although it was still very breezy, but instead, kept getting an horrendous smell like something has died and started to decompose, either in the backyard or the back alleyways. Could not locate where it was so retreated indoors. Then Matilda, one of my old cats, mis-judged her leap onto the kitchen worktop and instead skidded and headbutted the cupboard. She is ok but looked very embarrassed.
Hope tomorrow is a bit better.

Don't mind me snoozing up against the fence, I have had an exhausting day at work. Fortunately I have the next three days off, so will be able to catch up with my other life. Looks like there has been an invasion of midgets, judging by the shorties posting here. Mind you I am not exactly Beanpole Lil myself, being five foot three......they say good things come in small packages!
Oh good, mardatha has come down her mountain to join us....she must have sniffed that huge bag of jelly babies being passed along the fence! Cue topic for discussion....what is your favourite sweet? Rather partial liquorice allsorts, myself. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Evening all,
Very windy here today, no rain and not really very cold either.
Went to Aldi this morning and got 2 covers for our small greenhouses.....€6.95each, hope to be able to get them ready for occupation by plants before they go into the open garden.
Rabbits......saw some a while ago which looked good......turned out that they came from France, so that was that. Havent come across any squirrel yet....would agree with McCulloch 29 about them.
Softstuff, it appears that prices in Australia have been rocketting over the last few years, I am shocked at what I hear from DD3 in Perth, seems even worse than here.
Knitting a hat for OH at present, at his request, I know that he will perch it on top of his head like a pimple on an elephant......his chosen colours of green and gold dont help! Would like to get it finished so that I can get on with something I find more interesting.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Sheila, myfitnesspal.com is quite good for calorie counts and is free. I'd say the 70 was more likely to be correct for a normal medium egg. I had rabbit bolognese once, but the rabbit had been shot by the father of my boyfriend at the time. Picking the bits of shot out of my dinner really put me off. I like to be able to just eat my dinner and not have to mess around with it.0

Beautiful day here today. Crocus are all in bloom on the grass verges and roundabouts and the daffs are just beginning to flower. I have been crafting all day today and we are off to Holland on Monday for a few days.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

My fave sweets are blackcurrant liquorice, rhubarb and custards and chocolate limes. Loved fizz bombs as a kid - does anyone remember Pink panther chocolate bars? they were super sickly.0

Good Evening everyone, I wonder if you have room for another to peer over the fence. I'm thinking I'm in the middle at five foot 4.
Definately the smallest in our family as DH and DS are both 6 foot 2 inches tall, and DD is 5 foot 8 inches. However its very handy having them about to reach things down for me:rotfl:
I must admit I haven't followed the other threads, but I think I am in need of some support. The trouble is I spend so long reading the various threads, checking my emails and facebook and entering competitions, I don't get much done so have to be firm with myself and not turn the laptop on too early otherwise housework wouldn't get done and family wouldn't get fed:rotfl::rotfl:
Changing the subject, I got the free tomato seeds from heinz the other week and have planted them on my kitchen windowsill and they have all come up. If anyone is interested I think you can still get them.
Its been lovely and sunny in Kent today, although quite windy. Managed to get all the washing dry outside and most of the ironing, just one more pile for tomorrow. I have done the housework, so maybe tomorrow I can get some things I want to done tomorrow.:)
I think my favourite sweets from my childhood were sherbet lemons.
Probably rambled on enough so will keep reading and hope to post some more.SPC 11 #4450 -
I remember the Pink Panther bars, I don't think they were chocolate, more a sugary fruity bar the same texture as Caramac?
Early memory - at infant school, if anyone had a birthday they stood out in front in assembly. The head would give them a tall candle, lit. I seem to remember a blue and an orange candle. Then the whole school would sing Happy Birthday and the head would pop a Rolo in the birthday child's mouth. Can't imagine that happening today! One life - your life - live it!0 -

I don't remember the Pink Panther bars, but I do remember Caramac bars, and also does anyone remember at around Easter time Lindt used to do boxes of chocolate bunnies and chicks? I loved them. My mum used to buy my sister and myself a box each at Easter.SPC 11 #4450 -
When I was about 12 I had something like 10 Easter eggs one year, not just plain ones but ones in big packs with sweets and chocs in them. Took me ages to eat my way through them. It is only now, decades later, that I realise how lucky I was. Mum and Dad did not have much money, I wore second hand clothes a lot, but we always ate well, and Mum was always grafting, trying to make cash on the side by buying and selling stuff, as well as her factory job ( tinned food manufacturer ). Dad worked shifts at a printing factory. Gas, electric and the telly were paid for by putting coins in a meter. Their entertainment was bingo or the pub, where they both were domino and crib champions. In fact, when I was six or seven, they sometimes took me to the pub and I learnt to play dominoes at a young age. Dad is still around, married to my stepmum for a long time now ( Mum died of lung cancer.) Feeling quite maudlin now, wish I could go back in time and talk to them both as they were then, but of course we can't do that. Think it must be the 12 hour shift I did today, turned my brain to mush. Goodnight, fencers! One life - your life - live it!0
