Williams & Glyn is going to be the trading name of a load of ex-RBS branches in England/Wales within the next couple of years.
If someone in that area is dealing with your complaint:LondonTom1982 wrote: »and I only have one default, again which is not nat west.LondonTom1982 wrote: »I have a copy of my credit report to show that there is no record of a defaulted account with NW
Might it be with RBS rather than Natwest, by any chance?0

This is the problem - they are saying I do and I don't. I've explained someone has opened an account in my name.
What concerns me is the length of time they have taken to action a default. Apparently they set off some money from my account in 2010 - as you can probably gather I am terrible with the organisation of my finances!0

The limit is for legal actions, not for taking money if they can do this.Candyapple wrote: »Because it was getting close to the 6 years statutory barred limit (March 2015) and they probably thought they had to make their move quickly before the time limit was up.0

As an aside to the OP's complaint, the old adage is still correct. Don't take a credit card out with your bank, use another company that doesn't have access to your current account.
it's an interesting point RMS2... with 4 current accounts that i retain and 4 credit cards of which i retain at least 3, the only 'overlap' i have is Barclays Bank plc. and so yes, i guess i have to have in mind that if i ever got on the wrong side of Barclaycard they could strip money from my Barclays Premier current account.
other things is that i have Business and Personal accounts with HSBC... and i have heard the same logic there, as business borrowing can be recalled from Personal, and vice versa..
and, not that i do it, i have known people who use Factoring or Invoice Finance be very clear about using an external provider, ie. Not their own bankers.0

They are now reviving the brand, Williams & Glyn (with no 's), probably because the RBS and NatWest brands are synonymous with failure, theft, tax avoidance, Fred the Shred, money laundering, market rigging, and generally sponging off the UK taxpayer.
all of the 'pure' RBS-branded branches in England and Wales are to be rebranding Williams & Glyn, and then separated from RBS, similar to the way that Lloyds Banking Group has separated TSB. it has been imposed by the EU.. though i welcome some more 'players in the game' i don't think they ought to have been able to do that.0

And just to pick up on Stclair's point: It is for them to prove the debt is yours, not for you to prove to them that it isn't.
pvt is right here LondonTom. and as above, you really need to tackle this very directly. even if your record-keeping is not great, i assume you would know if you had defaulted on anything other than your satisfied HSBC default. on that basis, stick to your position very firmly and push it back to them. and get yourself a current account elsewhere, and close your NatWest account, so stop the cycle. if they want to pursue you for £3k, they will have to do so in a way that you can deal with. and if they turn out to be wrong, as we assume you know, then hit them hard for compensation for all of this aggro.0

The bank have agreed with the credit card company and they are not giving me any money back - they said last week was simply a credit to my current account, so now I'm £2995 overdrawn, which of course they will be charging me daily for.
The woman from NW CC said it's too long ago for them to look into it as fraud as the account was opened in 2007!!
 I'm at a loss with these people.0

They cant take you £3K into an unauthorised overdraft. Its also bullcarp that they cant look into it as fraud. What did the FOS say when you rang them? Demand they reverse it otherwise you will be taking them to the FOS and reporting them to the FCA and will be claiming compensation for any loss and inconvenience you incur.Still rolling rolling rolling...... < <
