Natwest Credit Cards Have Taken All My Money

            this is the first time i have read the thread. i am very pleased that your complaint was upheld and that your money was returned, LondonTom.
 but i am also interested in the core problem here... if you have no knowledge of the card/default, and it doesnt show on your credit files, then establishing that this is not your debt would seem to be your priority now. how are you getting on with that? have you written to NatWest to state that you have no knowledge of the account, and requesting information?0

            I spoke too soon - £3,000 has been withdrawn from my account today, even though there was a balance of £5 in there, so putting me into an unauthorised overdraft - seriously this bank is an absolute joke!0

            I've been on hold now for nearly 30 minutes - I was only told my complaint has been upheld but they have not responded with anything as yet.
 I don't want to go into a branch for fear of losing my temper!0

            As an aside to the OP's complaint, the old adage is still correct. Don't take a credit card out with your bank, use another company that doesn't have access to your current account.0

            I think you may also want to start focusing on proving the debt is not yours! This appears to being over looked in your posts.
 That obviously would form part of my complaint - which I am still awaiting a response from Natwest about, apparently a department called William & Glyn are dealing with it. I have a copy of my credit report to show that there is no record of a defaulted account with NW and what concerns me more is the fact it's been nearly 6 years since the default before they do anything about it!0

 I read that as the debt may actually be yours then.

            Williams & Glyn's Bank was a smaller High Street bank that was formed by RBS in the 1970s, long before RBS even bought National Westminster Bank. So they are part of the RBS group.
 They are now reviving the brand, Williams & Glyn (with no 's), probably because the RBS and NatWest brands are synonymous with failure, theft, tax avoidance, Fred the Shred, money laundering, market rigging, and generally sponging off the UK taxpayer.
 And just to pick up on Stclair's point: It is for them to prove the debt is yours, not for you to prove to them that it isn't.Optimists see a glass half full
