Hello, advice needed on comping

Hello :),
I've just taken up the comping hobby in the last week and had a few questions if anyone wouldn't mind answering them?

How long do serious compers spend entering comps daily/weekly? I started a week ago and have spent every spare moment entering (probs 2-3 hours a day) and have only managed half the back log of posts (despite using roboform).

Do people have much of a high success rate with winning? I saw something on fb the other day about a woman who had one sooo much stuff I wondered if that was just one lucky woman or does it pay off for everyone who puts the time in?

Also, are gleam and rafflecopter comps worth doing? I've set up spare/junk facebook and twitter accounts to up my chances but they don't seem to register the extra entries? I just wondered if they are legit?

Thank you to all that spend time posting comps on here :). It seems to be a really helpful community of people.

thanks in advance :)

Not healthy, a hobby (and i'll still never believe it is) should be something you enjoy doing not a chore

The people who you've seen that have won loads do have other sidelines and don't make money from comps - if you think you will, find a new 'hobby'

Depends what you're after - if it's everything advertised as 'win', free make up samples or homemade tat from people who think they can 'craft' then they are worth doing but can be tedious (especially RC's). Plus a lot of them on blogs seem to be a bit rigged (my opinion)

    Two questions

    Who are you?

And what have you done with the real Sax?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions, and thank you for being polite. :)

I am very much enjoying comping so far, i find it quite addictive and fun. I have to pries myself away to do the housework, which i guess could be unhealthy but I'm sure I'll die down once I've got through it all.

I'm not looking to make money, more to win the holiday we cant afford or upgrade the kitchen appliances. I'm not interested in tat, just curious as to if they are worth the time for something decent, which it sounds like they're not.

Thanks again for the helpful comments :)

If you check in the Compers Chat Corner there are threads with FEBRUARY CHALLENGE & MARCH CHALLENGE, where members of the forum are attempting to enter 4,000 competitions a month and record their win ratios

I am sure I read in there that the average win rate was around 1 win in 1,500 comps entered (or something like that number)

    Found it .......

last month the group reported 33 wins out of 49248 comps entered which suggests an average win for every 1492 comps but if you look at individual figures Becky entered 9020 comps and had 12 wins so one for every 750 ish comps whereas Boycette only had 1 win for the 8218 comps they entered.

So in this test, the win/enter ratio varies from 1 in 750 to 1 in 8,218

You're more likely to win prizes that are worth less than about £100 because less people enter them, if you want to win appliances and stuff you're gonna have to commit a lot of time to keep entering and you'll have to remain positive and not give up if you don't win straight away.

I think a lot of people start comping hoping for big prizes quickly whereas it's more likely to have a couple of small wins each month if you're persistent, however I've found that sometimes these can be good, I won a microwave hot pot and it was worth like £12.99 but it's perfect for uni and will make my life easier so depends what you want out of it. (I've been comping on and off for a while but forgot my account on here so had to make a new one sigh)
2015 wins: £20 TPO Top-up, JML Microwave Hot Pot, Mini taster box from Mallow & Marsh, Barbour t-shirt, £100 worth of oxo baking utensils, Baking Chocolate, £40 Allums BBQ Parcel

wow that's quite interesting thanks for digging it up! So ratios are inconsistent but shows that wins are ... rare, its just pot luck! I enjoy it and have the mindset of in it for fun and if i win something its a bonus. thanks again :)
