What has your pet eaten that they shouldn't?

I have a rescue beagle who will eat anything. I have to muzzle her when we walk because she eats pooh. It got me thinking of all the terrible things she's eaten. So far, the list toppers are:
1) Contact lenses, box and all
2) £6 gift voucher
3) Postal vote papers from the council

On my wedding day, she ate a "We have a parcel for you" card from the postie, and threw it up all over the kitchen and living room. How many brides do you know who had to clean up a pile of dog sick before leaving for the registry office?

I also have chinchillas, who ate through the modem cable when I moved into my first flat. I was on the phone to BT almost daily, shouting at them to sort out my broadband connection, until one of them told me to check my cabling. Mortified was not the word.

Amongst other random things... My mouth guard must have smelt good with it having been in my mouth for only one use!!! Expensive that one! Not fun when you needed it because of a dislocated jaw. Can see the funny side now though:) the dentist said they have quite a few of these incidents.
Another funny one daughter had to make something from a toilet roll holder... Made a tree decorated a board with sweetie mushrooms and chocolate logs etc. she went upstairs to get her Winnie the Pooh book so she could ice on "the hundred acre wood" came downstairs and the wood had been well and truly deforested!

I used to have a Rottweiler guard dog who ate my leather sandals. Slippers I can understand but these were tough, good quality muvva's !

We watched him very closely for a few days 'cos he even wolfed the brass buckles.
  • My old boxer, a full box of after eights, including the wrappers. That ended in a real mess.

My current dobe, fox poop and cat puke are the worst. He get's really excited when he hears the cat about the throw up. I feel sorry for her as she's all vulnerable and he's literally standing in front of her waiting for it to arrive.

Macius my tiny wobbly cat a tablet of Onsior meant for a 40kg dog - ended up having stomach pumped and stay at two separate vets as a result of stomach pump rather than Onsior and a bill for a total just over 2.5k (thanks God for insurance).

Zara - half a bucket of dry cat food (around 3kg), including the plactic lead pieces (frequent trips out every like 45 minutes for 3 days after that), 2 pairs of the most expensive sandals I ever had, corner of a bedside cabinet and one side of internal door when I accidently locked her in my bedroom and went to see a neighbour for a coffee

Fred steals whatever he manages to get - mushrooms, cous cous, pepers, onion peel, bread.. ANYTHING - despite some of those things being toxic, Fred is fine.

George and Teddy are somehow normal....

  • Thankfully not! The two dogs did partially wreck a sofa, but i blame the cat. She tore a bit off and they couldn't resist pulling at it.
