Moto E Phone - Answering Call Problem

Yes - it is listed under "My Apps" at Google Play.
Pkus I've found it on the phone. It shows under Apps - Disabled. Just remembered I disabled some apps to make a bit more room in the Internal Memory.
With it disabled - do you think it could still be the cause of this problem?0

I don't know, but why not try enabling it, then see if you can turn it off (then maybe disable again if you want).info_addict wrote: »Yes - it is listed under "My Apps" at Google Play.

It's probably the original installed Assist app (by Motorola). We don't have Google Voice in UK (it's not the same as the "OK Google" thing).
It can be set to answer calls and texts when you're at home or in a car, but if you don't say the key words in a limited amount of time (and recognisably) it says it can't do whatever action it tried.
It can be very useful, but you have to go into the app settings ( Apps>Assist>3 vertical dots at top) and also tap the various titles given ie Sleeping, At Home, Driving, Meeting to tick or untick options.
If you have Meeting selected and your calendar is linked to the phone, it will silence calls if it finds that you are busy according to your calendar. Very clever, but you have to look into all the settings.0

OK - if anyone is following this. DON'T ever enable Talkback, it must be the most annoying thing ever. Plus it's really difficult to turn off again
Anyway - I did as you say - enabled it -unticked the Speak Caller ID button and then switched it off again. Tried calling and still the same problem!!
Thanks for all your help - but it looks like we are back to the drawing board again0

            Mercenary - you are a god !!!!
Went into Assist and the "Talk to me" box was ticked. Unticked it and now my wife has a normal phone again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This phone was an upgrade from her old B&W Nokia (but it did have a torch)
So we are gradually entering the 21st century0

Glad you managed to get it sorted! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

Glad I could help. Just keep the info in mind should your wife suddenly decide that it might be useful to have the phone read out texts in the future . .
I use Assist and it's helpful to hear texts instead of having to look at my phone if I'm busy in the kitchen or playing a game on my pc, but I do look a bit silly shouting out "Listen" or "Cancel".0
