thephonespot free phones? What's the catch?
recieved an email today from thephonespot for
12 month contract
12 months free line rental
Free phone
(specific link is here: http://!!!!!!/mobile-phones/samsung/x820-price-match/o2/e3512july)
now... having an extra new working phone around the house is never a bad thing (esp with my partner's habit of putting phones in washing machine, dropping in lake, etc).
i guess they're counting on people using above their allotted minutes & texts, so charging them extra?
what's the catch? i realize i'll have to adhere to their cashback offers (submit bills). do i have to use the phone at least once a month? i've looking up their terms & conditions, but can't find anything specific.
thanks!

The main catch is you have to keep paying the monthly bills for the phone irrespective of what happens to the retailer.
Should they stop trading for any reason they will stop paying the cashback claims.
They are part of Carphonewarehouse (if that is any recommendation)0 -
but after 12 months i can call and cancel this account, right?0
-
The link you gave is for a free phone, though you have to pay a total of £35 for the line rental over the 12 months.
Once the 12 months have been completed you can cancel. (Give notice after 11 months).0 -

what i'm most worried about is getting the phone. forgetting to use it once a month or so. therefore my bills will be blank. will that invalidate the cashback claim? i've read the PhoneSpot Terms & conditions of sale, exchange and cancellationa policty, & 02 erms & condistions of service, & full terms and conditions of redemption for the 12 Months FREE promotion.
i'm always hesitatant b/c there's no such thing as a free lunch, eh?
i do notice that they include (1) month free insurance, after that it's £5.99. but i'm pretty sure i can cancel that.0 -
They are using the e2save new contract terms designed to help you fail to meet the requirements.
Are you happy with them?
Note that if a claim gets lost in the post (even if you used their recommended recorded delivery) they won't pay up - not only for the missing claim, but for any others due in the future.0
