Airliners have forced down the cost of various fees they pay to the airports, hence the airports have had to find new ways to getting back some lost revenue, and sadly car parking even for drop off/pick up cost increases.

I can remember when Bournemouth airport was free for 15 minutes, ideal for a quick pick-up/drop-off, now it's at least £3 (might be more now), double yellow lines and pretty much no pavements on the approach road so even being dropped off outside the airport isn't the best due to having to walk in the road.

Even the most busiest airports - drop offs are free and pick ups are charged. With that in mind if you read OP, he has indeed a point to make - so it is a rip off!
And please don't say "he should have checked" everytime I read often:chuckles

Luton , drop is free, if you don't mind the walk up the hill pulling your suitcase. I pay the £2 . Holiday has cost me hundreds , extra £2 is just annoying

I feel this is a total rip off and will not be using Stansted Airport again.

Even if, in the future, you find a flight which is cheaper when you use Stansted? I'm sure that such a saving would exceed a 2 pound drop-off fee.... or would your principles stop you from taking advantage of this cheaper price?

What he should have done is follow the signs to the free drop off. I fail to see how he was 'ripped off'
