1/ The drop off fee is clearly advertised online, giving people the opportunity to decide beforehand whether to drop off or not,

Why would I look online first if I'm just dropping someone off at an airport? I'm not parking in a car park, I'm pulling up into a layby and dropping someone off.

It's called planning ahead, and as you've found out, looking online first is better than looking online afterwards.

Yes but until you get up to near the terminal building and realise you have to pay there's nowhere to turn around to go a different way.

The signs before that pointing to the Free Drop-off are a bit of a clue though :)

I feel this is a total rip off and will not be using Stansted Airport again.

But you weren't flying in or out anyway so didn't use it!

If anyone asks you a favour to drop them off are you just going to say no?

If anyone asks you a favour to drop them off are you just going to say no? That's a very quick way of becoming unpopular.

My post says " I will not be using Stansted Airport" it did not say I would not drop anyone off, did it......

If YOU were using Stansted Airport then you wouldn't be using the drop-off point but one of the normal car parks

Always amazed how people react to stuff like this! Over the huge sum of two quid someone firstly takes the time to complain about it on here AND says they won't ever use the airport again!

You should drive to gatwick instead.....that'll show'em! Not!

So you'll happily spend more money to go to another Airport just because of this. When you do this which will cost you way more than £2 to go somewhere else what happens when you get there and they have the same charge which they are almost bound to have judging by what people have written here?

The problem with this charge is that it leads to people stopping at the entrances to the car parks to drop people off, and blocking the road. That road is already like a slalom course with people moving from left to right lanes working out where the hell to go.....

I collected a cousin from Stansted and overstayed in the short stay car park by a couple of minutes (because the plane was a bit late and my cousin used the loo before the two hour ride home) and went over the hour. The cost to park for just over an hour? £11.00!

I think her air ticket from Glasgow didn't cost that much..

They have thought of that one too, double yellows everywhere.

I'm going to buck the trend and side with the OP, you may expect to pay to pick up as you have to wait around, but for the seconds you stop to drop someone off grates.

Sadly when I last collected family from Stansted my ticket didn't work on the way out so they let me out for free. :)
