Removing Prepayment Meters

I have moved to another rented address, I paid my bills using the Bill arrives, pay in FULL within 7 days method, I've never missed a bill, or been late with one, I have moved into an address that has Pre-payment meters, I requested my supplier from old address (SSE) to provide Electric in my new property, and they requested i pay £50 to exchange meter. I have paid all my bills as soon as they arrived, and they want me to pay for someone else's bad credit to change the meter from pre-payment to a standard credit meter.
Welcome to the forum.
£50 is probably less than cost.
Being a good customer just means you are an anonymous set of digits on 'The Computer' along with x million others.
What is to stop you moving again if a 'free' meter were fitted.0 -
Hi. Pre-payment sink-holes more like. I stopped using the Gas altogether 2 yrs ago cos I'd put £20 in and get £10 of gas even though I had no debt."oh its the price rises that we didn't add on months ago".....what!!!?
So imagine my dismay (to say the least)when I got a bill for £300 the other day. "oh eh dont know hang on..............)and on....I hung up and dialled again. " oh eh hang on.." "No ! dont go! I'm not hanging anything...call me back,"
"Hi there your meter is damaged and its the cost of replacement"
"No. The box hasn't been opened for 2yrs !"
"Right hang on.." " eh no...gasp.."
"Hi again, it's the standing charge of £2 a week"
"even tho its turned off ?" "yeah"
I managed to plead a write off for that I think but they still want money to remove or change it. Yet I see previous posts here claiming to have it removed for free ?
