Removing Prepayment Meters

If you find Npower unreasonable I suggest you try contacting Consumer Focus for help.
With children in the house they should not leave you without supply. You don't say whether you are just struggling or whether on benefits or not but if you are Fuel Direct may be an option for the future. Should you move into another place of your own make sure Npower aren't the supplier as they then wont be able to do this to you again!
A look at Charis grants may also be worthwhile to assess whether you could get a grant towards clearing some / all of this debt
Good luck0 -
Did you mean to say they would NOT allow you to count mobile phone, otherwise it seems strange to say it?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
4 Credit Card and 1 Loan PPI claims settled for £26k, 1 rejected (Opus).0 -
Spiro - I hope it is reasonable as they wanted an extra £60 per month over what I could afford but £130 per month to cover future usage too.
Undaunted - hi. I'm not on benefits and working as a temp with whatever agency work I can get although benefits would pay far more than what im earning. I thought I would have found permanent employment by now so avoided having to claim benefits.
I have sent a complaint to Npower so am waiting for their response. I will also look at the options you mention. Many thanks for that.0 -
I had my gas and electric with EON who refused to remove my meters unless I paid them £500 up front, £100 to remove meters plus £400 as a returnable deposit, this was because I failed their credit check. I rang around every other supplier I could think of and they all said similar, then I tried EDF and bingo! No credit checks and free removal of meters as long as you have been a customer for about six weeks. Anyone who tries to charge you for meter removal is ripping you off.0

no they are just covering their costs, also if companys are asking you for £400 you are a very high riskDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I have moved to another rented address, I paid my bills using the Bill arrives, pay in FULL within 7 days method, I've never missed a bill, or been late with one, I have moved into an address that has Pre-payment meters, I requested my supplier from old address (SSE) to provide Electric in my new property, and they requested i pay £50 to exchange meter. I have paid all my bills as soon as they arrived, and they want me to pay for someone else's bad credit to change the meter from pre-payment to a standard credit meter.0

Did you think about this before choosing that property?0 -
