The Old Style Money Saving board on here is full of suggestions on how to make nutritious meals for very little cost. That might help a little.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

is it just me or does this not sound like a business?
there is little stock available, and he doesn't sell the stock he hholds in case he can't source any more?
so ge spends 40 hours a week trying to find stock ( over a 2 month period) and yet has only found £750 worth ( £375 a month) and hasn't sold any of it on.
i wouldn't want to invest in him
You sound like one of the dragons from Dragon's Den.0 -

At least back on JSA he will get his full National Insurance Class 1 stamp.
He might have been better off selling his stock for a lot less profit than he had planned to, just to get the business moving. Even if he only made 20% profit , if he had been able to turn the stock over 3 or 4 times in a six month period, there would at least have been movement. Having the price fo the stock so high it doesn't sell at all is a bit mad imho.0 -
It seems you have a lot to learn about running a business.
After all, Woolworths had a viable business model but went bust when the figures didn't add up.0 -
Its a shame that would Entrepeneurs like my client got NO help at all from the government. I would of thought they would be willing to help people start up businesses instead of letting them just sit on the dole claiming JSA. Such a damm shame- back on the scrap heap for him!!!!0

Londonboy123 - this whole thread is ridiculous.
Your "friend" will never, ever get a job, selling jet-skis or anything else. He has far too many problems to overcome on a daily basis for him to even consider finding employment that involves him leaving his bed.
Your best advice to him would be - "sorry, i can't help you, you need to help yourself" I've never read such a load of negative BS in my life.
He's on the scrapheap because he has no ambition or drive. If he wants to work, then there's nothing stopping him, no matter how much you say there is.0 -

He did get help. He was on NEA. He just wasn't prepared to put in the effort to help his business grow.
btw...you need to understand the definition of entrepreneur before you make a claim that your 'client' is one.0 -

There are a few things stopping my client :
1 ) No local work ( he lives in a remote hamlet )
2) Cannot relocate as has no money to move.
3) Has no internet now that Working tax credit has not been awarded- so cant even look for jobs, apart from local newspaper thats delievered every week.
4 ) No money for transport or even a second hand old bike.
5) Not even got a suit to go to interview , as has no money to buy one ( even second hand )- so probably wouldnt even get the job when wears jeans and t shirt to interview.
6) Cannot get a loan or borrow off anybody
A Catch 22- no money- no job- no money................0 -
Only option is the 4 hour walk to the nearest town then the 4 hour walk back home ( 8 hours walking per day )
Yes, you're right about that.0 -
My sympathies to your client, I struggle with 3 hours walking a day in and out of work with the car freely parked in front of the posh houses, sorry good people of Lexden! mind you I'm not really in any fit state once I've gotten to work to think properly let alone anything else but £6.50 does provide me with a cuppa or 2
I've attended a job interview most recently with holes in the shoes and scuffed which didn't get anything said, this is about the only positive thing I can say
I wanted to post before, that your client should see CAB or drop his bills to a pound whilst in this situation, like I said hope it improves and kudos to his for not borrowing which on other parts of this site it would mean a slating for! ironic really, truly.
I've picked up hitch hikers before, but when you really need it yourself it never comes along, certainly makes you think in the end. Got to wonder how many posters saw the documentary of the people that walked past children in the street just under a year ago..
Mum says things will get better after the election is over and I recently took comfort in seeing my gran in someone else's face (my guardian angel) in times like these, believe in yourself when no one will x0
