How to connect my laptop to my TV?

Hi Folks I have an Acer Aspire 7720G laptop. I often watch films from Netflix on there and would ideally want to connect that to my flat screen TV, to enable me to watch the films/programs on a bigger screen!! If you've got a movie file on your computer have you tried just dragging and dropping it into the chrome browser? Then you can cast the tab.

This won't work for avi files though. Either use something like videostream app, or convert the avi file using handbrake.
