Thanks.

However, the TV is not HD. Does that matter?

For using chromecast nope.

A non-HD tv with a HDMI input?

If it has an HDMI port, it's HD. it mightn't be FULL HD (1080) but will still be at least HD (720) and will be great for Chromecast.

I have a micro hdmi to hdmi cable - as both my laptop and tablet contain a micro hdmi port. I connect the tv to the laptop or tablet via the cable and off we go. Never had a problem with sound using hdmi cables.

But the OP doesn't have an HDMI (micro or normal) port on their computer. They do have a DVI port which can be connected to HDMI, but DVI does not transmit sound.

Hi Folks
I bought the Google Chromecast dongle which arrived yesterday in the post yesterday. I attached it to the back on my TV and downloaded a film on my PC using the Showbox app.

However, what would I need to do in order to stream the film to Chromecast to enable me to watch any movie/show on the TV?

Do I need to install another app called 'Allcast'?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Download the chromecast app onto your pc. it uses CHROME only, FF and IE dont use chromecast. once installed it will search for your chromecast and ask you to pair it.

using your wi-fi, your computer will sniff for a chromecast, pairing it is merely lingo for the computer asking you "is it this one?". You would not want to pair it with a neighbours or if you had more than one chromecast device.

Hi marleyboy

I already downloaded the chromecast app. I then downloaded a film from Showbox on the PC but it didn't give me an option to stream it to Chromecast.

Can you suggest what else I could do?

Thanks
