Hi Folks
I have an Acer Aspire 7720G laptop. I often watch films from Netflix on there and would ideally want to connect that to my flat screen TV, to enable me to watch the films/programs on a bigger screen!!
The laptop has the following ports:
VGA port
DVI port
Gigabit Lan port
USB ports
S-video port
S/PDIF port.
My TV has the following ports:
HDMI
Rf-input
Scart
PC Input
Could someone kindly advice how I can connect the two devices up?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Chromecast is well worth a look. It has a netflix app. I used to hook up the laptop to the tv all the time with a HDMI cable but chromecast and just connecting it wirelessly from your sofa is definitely the way forward- works really well.0

Warning - DVI to HDMI is picture only - the sound will still be coming out of your laptop. You can output it from headphones or SPDIF, but it's not clear what input your TV would have.0

Chromecast is definitely the way to go if you are mainly going to be using it for Netflix - Got a couple dotted round the house at the minute, along with a NowTV box and a Raspberry Pi running Kodi... Thinking about it, why exactly am I paying a monthly fee to virgin for TV! :rotfl:0 -

Hi Folks
Sorry for this very very late reply.
Do you mean Chromecast?
If so, I take it that I plug it in to the HDMI port of my TV and 'stream' the programme' I want to watch from (say) my desk top to the chromecast wirelessly? Once 'streamed', I take it that I'm ready to watch the programme on TV?
Is that right?

Yeah pretty much.
Everything has to go through the chrome browser. If I want to watch something that I have stored on my laptop, I drag and drop the file or use videostream. It is possible to watch catch up tv by just streaming whatever is playing in the browser, and casting that tab. Iplayer I think is the only one that officially supports though.
The connection is okay. We have a few issues sometimes but we are in an area of really poor broadband speeds (3-4mbps). This causes the playback to stutter/buffer.0 -
Thanks.
However, the TV is not HD. Does that matter?0
