In which case you might be better off looking at Didcot for housing. They have spent a lot of money on the area recently, and schools seem to be better than Swindon.
Rush hour traffic in Swindon is horrific, so getting to Newbury wouldn't be easy!
£135k will only get you 1 bedroom in most area around here.
You would be better off typing the location of your OH's work into Rightmove, then looking at houses with three bed and under £150k within 20 miles.
Park North, Penhill seem to be areas in Swindon to avoid...
Andover seems more reasonably priced but i know nothing about it!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Someone also helpfully linked this on here a while back:

It's by no means perfect (there's *no way* I live in a better area than my parents, other than by this measure, but it's a handy stick to taunt them with
) and relatively 'deprived' doesn't *have* to equal 'bad', but it helps to give an indication of area. 0 -
There are 128 3-bed or more, <£140k properties for sale within 40 miles of Newbury.sugarpants wrote: »Hubbys job is just outside Newbury.

Narrow that down to 20 miles, and there's just nine. Then take out the three repos under offer, and the two pub businesses, and you're down to four.
Good luck. You're going to need it.0 -
Were considering 2 beds with potential to extend or loft conversion. Anyone done this ?

If you spend your full budget on buying the place, how are you going to afford to extend?sugarpants wrote: »Were considering 2 beds with potential to extend or loft conversion.
It doesn't even open your options up that much in terms of the number of properties - take out shared ownership and retirement developments, take out repos-under-offer, take out mobile homes and flats, take out houseboats and building plots, and you're left with five possibles within twenty miles.
Sorry, but I think you really are going to have to rethink.0 -
