get an honest MOT from them , they don,t make money by doing repairs , so have nothing to gain by making faults up
I guarantee that the report back from them will be different than krook fit
I've found a similar website called weonlymot.co.uk which I think is a similar idea...they don't actually do any repairs so are more likely to provide an honest answer.
I'll give the council MOT garage a call in the morning and try and get something booked in for early next week. If not, I might give this other website a try as it's only down the motorway from me and charges £35 for a test.0 -
use the local council centre , they are straight , a quick look at that site you posted , "no pass no fee " read the small print , any car 10 yrs or over (that's close to yours?) has a £25 fee
I will GUARENTEE , they know a bloke that can fix it ,, here's his card0 -
How much are you offering up to underwrite that guarantee?
Weonlymot are spot on in my experience. I've used them for a lot of tests and if it should pass it does, if it shouldn't, it doesnt. They go to the lenient side when they can, and are keen on advisories, but thats no bad thing in my view. I've used four of their branches and they've never even mentioned getting the repair done apart from giving diy tips.
As for appealing kwik fits fail. if you want to do this, go back and ask for a form VT17. They have to hold stock and provide one when asked.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -

Sadly it's Kwik fit. What did you expect?0

I bought a car for it's scrap value (£150) because it had spectacularly failed a Kwik Fit MOT and "needed £1000's spending". It flew through an MOT at my local independent with no work needed - I kept the car for 2 years/30K and sold it on for £1200 having only spent £200 on services and brake pads during my ownership.0

I've used the Lincoln branch of weonlymot on several occasions and have been really pleased with the service, I've never been given any recommendations as to where to get work done. Even when I asked where they'd recommend I take a car to replace a coil spring they wouldn't suggest anywhere, saying that if they did it would "compromise their independence".0 -
Keep us posted on the update because i am sure in my own mind that twelve feet of corroded brake pipes is outrageous. And if which i am sure you are being spun a line that a complaint to the very top in fact find out a way of reporting them to vosa.0

I'm going to jack the car up this morning and take a look at the pipes (with the help of a YouTube tutorial!) and I'm going to drop it off at an independent MOT garage this afternoon. If it does pass this secondary test then I will be appealing the original devision and complaining.
If it fails, I will need to take them up on their original quote, as the MOT runs out at midnight tonight!
Thank you so much for all your advice so far - you've been wonderful.0 -
If it does fail get the work done somewhere decent.0
