    Hi,

So yesterday I turned 34. The day was a total write off money wise. We went out for dinner and drinks and spent too much money for my liking! I got some vouchers for my birthday so they will save me a good bit of money over the next few months. We are off to the cinema now to see Mamma Mia. We booked online so we could use a discount code. We are bringing our own snacks too... £3.40 for a bag of sweets is crazy!

    Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend !!!55357;!!!56832;

    hello,

I got a letter from Santander about the loan last week. Last month I paid an additional £40 off it. The loan was due to finish on 17/04/2023. By paying £40 off it, it has now changed to 03/04/2023. So that is 2 weeks earlier. I am going to carry on paying as much as I can off it every month. I am aiming for a DFD of December 2022 for now. Anything earlier than that would be even better!

Not much else happening with me. I am aiming to spend as little as possible this week and hope to have a very quiet weekend. I am hoping DH finally gets round to selling our 2nd car this week too. We are either going to pay it off the loan or get new internal doors for the house. Our house is all open planned downstairs and it is a nightmare to heat in the winter. We spent a fortune on oil last year. if we get doors we will be able to just heat the room we are using so would save us a fortune on oil. I just need to get some prices as I have no idea how much this would cost. If it is more than we get for the car then we won't be able to afford it. We will see ;-)

    Happy Saturday everyone,

I just got my husband to check his credit card. He pays by direct debit every month and doesn't use the card so doesn't check his statement. He logged on and realised his balance is lower than we thought! It's £126.80 less. Nice wee surprise for a Saturday.

This will be a no spend weekend. I had to buy a loaf of bread this morning but that's it. I have dinner planned for tonight. We are out for dinner with family tomorrow so won't be spending any money tomorrow either.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend x

    hi everyone,

Not much happening with me in the way of debt busting this month. I am patiently waiting on pay day again. Only 2 more weeks to go. I am so sick of being broke the last 2 weeks of the month. Last month was my birthday and we went out for dinner and drinks. It has made me realise that we simply cannot afford to do this. It means we struggle the rest of the month.

I have £40 left in my current account to last 2 weeks. Out of this I should only need food shopping. I am not going to food shop this week and only use what I have in the freezer/cupboards. I still have £140 in my savings account but I am really hoping I won't have to use it.

I listed a perfume set on facebook over a month ago and heard nothing from anyone. I had someone message me to ask if it is still available and could they collect it on Friday. So if that goes through then I will have another £20 coming my way. I am going to have to get up into the attic and look for other things to sell. I really don't think I have anything of much value though.

I know it's only August but I am going to try and get organised for Christmas early this year. I am trying to save up my rewards points to use against presents. So far I have:

    B00ts: £10.05
    Sains: £1.50
    Tesco: £25
    Superdrug £1.20

So by Christmas I'll have a bit there that could possibly get me some presents. I bought some stuff in the January sales and have put them away for Christmas too. So I am well ahead of the game this year!

    Hi everyone,

Still not much to report in the way of debt busting. I am patiently waiting on payday. Just 9 more days to go. I'm hoping to have the debts below £27k then. The girl didn't turn up on Friday for my perfume set I was selling. She is supposed to come this Friday so fingers crossed. There is something on in our local community on Saturday so that £18 could go towards spending money there.

I really need to start clearing out the house to find some more stuff to sell. I am starting to worry about the lack of savings we have for Christmas. if I could make even £100 before then by selling anything I can then that would at least get the presents for my daughter sorted. I just need a free day to myself to gut the house. That could be the plan for this weekend.

    Morning,

I started looking for eBay stuff last night. I only got round to listing 1 thing which already has a bid on it so I'll hopefully have that money by the weekend. I'll get more time tonight to search for more stuff. I feel the selling bug is back!

    Hi everyone,

I have set myself a challenge to make £100 by the end of August. I have just had a big clear out upstairs. I have found lots of stuff suitable for eBay or a boot sale. I just have to get listing now! I have 1 thing on eBay at the minute. Current bid is £13.50 and it ends tonight. I'm hoping the girl comes for my perfume set tomorrow. That will be another £18. So, so far I have made £31.50/£100. I'm not going to use the £100 for debt repayments. I'm going to use the money for Christmas. I always used my credit card for Christmas but I don't have that option this year. No more credit for me! So that means I need to save as much as I can.

I have had a really productive day so far. I have stew in the slow cooker which I am going to divide into portions and freeze. I've also got Bolognese on too. I'm on a roll today!

Since you have mentioned Sainsburys I assume you mean saving nectar points. Did you know that you can do surveys for nectar points. They run e-rewards and you get paid in points that you redeem as nectar points. It says by invitation only but as a Nectar card holder you are 'invited'.

    https://www.nectar.com/brands/e-rewards

Most surveys are 200-ish and you need 1000 to redeem. I rarely make less than the equivalent of £5-10 per week and I only do them as and when. Don't wait for them to email you though - keep an email from them and go via the link on there and it will take you to an available survey. If the site then says there are no more, try the link from the email again as it often provides more that way.
    Hope it helps.

  • Thanks joeyjimbles for the tip. I'll definitely have a look at that. It will all go towards my Christmas spending money.

I made £13.50 On eBay yesterday. It is currently in my PayPal account still but I'm thinking I will transfer it to my bank and withdraw it and put it into my sealed tin. I think I will have about £60 in the tin so far.

Our electric bill arrived today... £101. I think it's quite expensive seeing as we have been using minimal electric over the summer. I must be doing something wrong! I really need to get that reduced. I'm in Northern Ireland so don't have many options to change provider.

The girl is calling for the perfume set soon so that will be another £18 into the sealed tin. Won't be long before I have £100 in there. So I have made £31.50 so far this month. I'm going to list a few more things on eBay today to try and make the other £69.50. Fingers crossed!
