Does this sound about right? MOT, Brakes & Tyres

Hi all,
Just had a call from my local garage. My car (60 plate Ford Fiesta) is in for its MOT and has failed on brakes and tyres. Already knew the brakes were an issue so that's no surprise!
I've been quoted £340 for the MOT, replacement front disks and pads and two new mid-range tyres. Does this sound about right?
Thanks

If your not sure it needs tyres, check them. If you don't need tyres, never mind the rest, take the car elsewhere.0

Were the front tyres worn? How many miles have you done since the last service? Any advisory on the brakes?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I didn't think you would get an advisory for brakes, they are usually efficient or not, and without leaks.0 -

I wasnt very clear on that. What i actually meant was from the last service. Mine normally give an idication on miles or time if not teh actual thickness.
But yeah for the MOT you can have pads that are near their limit or scored discs that are not enough to warrant a fail.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Does the £340 include VAT? if so, I'd be happy with that figure0

tyres are about ~100quid for good tyres.
brake discs ~40quid for pair, pads about 20quid , and about 1hour to change it all comes to about 200 max. Let's just say I have seen worse quotes.0 -

Sounds about right to me....Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0
