I was palmed off to Albany for a non-fault accident. I did not like the way I was forced to go with Albany. The way it was explained, I had no choice.
Albany were useless apart from confirming the TP's insurers. I had to do everything myself as Albany weren't doing anything. Every time I called it was someone else on the other end who just wanted to get rid of me saying it would take months to sort out. Well all that time I was driving a damaged car! Not at all happy with Albany or Admiral's way of foistering them off on me.

  • I was also passed off to Albany after a non fault accident and it's been down hill from there. I was naive and thought they were part of Admiral and I wasn't aware I had a choice. I'm now having to provide proof that I couldn't have afforded a cheaper car hire and go to court. I'm extremely angry that Admiral and Albany think this is acceptable conduct.

Albany car hire is expensive; it's where they make their money. As they don't make anything out of helping you sort out a claim unless its to get the hire charges back, guess what? They aren't much help if you don't take their hire car!

In a none fault accident with an Admiral customer they were on the case before the insured s own insurer (Zurich) had returned from their weekend off (their so called 24 hour line was in fact just a call centre), contacting the third party almost as soon as they were aware of the accident.

After a little messing around - after their insured tried to deny liability - before admiral were referred to 3 independent witnesses Admiral paid out very quickly and fairly.

The same driver was reversed into by a customer of another insurer (Premier I think) they proved to drag their feet, avoid contacting the claimant at all, forcing Direct Line to pay out for damages and then reach the point of instructing solicitors to sue for recovery of their outlay before final paying out.

In short, on these 2 occasions Admiral and Direct Line were helpful in the event of claims. Zurich less efficient and Premier behaved like a set of cowboys!

I have just received a call from someone claiming to represent Admiral insurance 'accident injury department' but when I asked for details from him about the head office address he hung up on me.

Good to know that Admiral allows its name to be used in spam calls.

Eh? They wouldn't have any control over it in the same way I could call you up and claim I was the Queen.
