Could it be that she has been put on UC - that has a 5 week wait before any payments will be made I think?
She needs to get in touch with her local council, GP or school and get a food bank voucher - that will help for a little bit with food for the children.Aug Comp Wins - :j

Starting to OS again and get life into some kind of order! :T0 -
I dont understand why she thinks child tax credit would finish, working tax does after a month of being unemployed. But child tax carries on. Maybe thats why shes getting confused we couldnt sign on until our working tax credit had finished which they carry on paying for a month. So with 3 children she should get £168 child tax credit a week, £45 child benefit and £72 jsa. plus the maintenance.0

merlin I think you right the whole thing is confusing her !! (and me !!) but what you've just done there is great. you've give us a platform to know what we should be getting that's brilliant thanks !0

Has she applied for housing benefit and council tax support these have to be claimed from the council separately. Also once the award is in place she can get free school dinners and health costs. for health costs you need an HC1 form you can download. Theres also a warm home discount which gives £140 of your winter electric bill you have to apply to your energy provider in may and also cheaper water. Anything else just ask.0

hi merlin that's brilliant thanks!!
shes always had housing benefit as only worked part time I think same with council tax too. I pointed that warm home discount out to her last night she said she applied for that last year when youngest was under 5 but never heard anything back so we'll try again
thanks again for your help !0 -
Dont expect the jobcentre to help. There role these days is to sanction people and get them off benefits.
crisis loans do not exist anymore. There are hardship payments. You have to provide a bank statement to the jobcentre and prove you have virtually nothing. Also make sure you say you have no family or friends that can lend money. If they think you can get money elsewhere they will try not to pay you.:footie:0 -
Foodbank vouchers are given out by citizens advice not jobcentre.:footie:0

cheers red devil I think your spot on with that !0
