you had a cc that was cancelled

barclaycard put 10k on a card that no longer exists

you didn't spend the money using the non-existent card

barclaycard now want the money on the non-existent card back

    is that right?

My credit card is not for personal use. It is only for my job. Paying back this money is neither a problem or the point but none of you seem capable of understanding this.
Solentsusie, no I didn't notice this as tens of thousands pass through this credit card from my job every year. Perhaps I should have been checking to see if anyone was making payments without discussing it with me first but for the fist half of the year I was a bit busy with chemo and vomitting and I foolishly trusted my bank.
I was only asking a question and have received such hostile and rude responses. That is what is incredible. Maybe I am reading your messages with the wrong tone but all seem so angry on this forum.

This seems to be a direct result of you being unable to explain what happened, or what the problem is.

So, the money has been spent ? This is getting a bit tedious now. If you (or someone who works for you) has spent the money, IT NEEDS TO BE PAID BACK. Whats so difficult to understand ?
  • I am sorry OP but you did not make yourself very clear.

That should be the end of the story....unless you haven't told us the whole story!

Ah ha, looks like there's more to the story..... there normally is!

Why is it that 90% of newbies go off in a huff when people have taken time out of their days to help them or ask some questions to clarify their OP, or even to make a comment?

OP you've had advice, you've been asked for clarification - be more open and less defensive. Ignore if you wish those critical just accept this is a public forum. Didn't you like my advice? Or the others?
  • Sorry, I have been rather oversensitive about this. Actually Robatwork, your advice was very good. Thank you. I have also realised through this that what was upsetting me was that Barclays have been talking to me as if it was all my fault which it really wasn't. Thats why I may have sounded 'huffy'. Got the impression that everyone thought I was trying a scam. The fact that a lot of members didn't believe me does in fact reinforce by view that what happened is a bit unbelievable. So thanks everyone and sorry if I didn't come across well.

It does not matter whether millions go through the account every year - it is your responsibilty to check all transactions.
They have asked you nicely for it back - pay it without delay - or I guarantee the card will be frozen and legal action will follow.

They have a guarantee that they will refund all fraudelent transactions - it works both ways.
Hope you are now feeling much better - good luck for the future.

Not sure anyone was actually thinking this, but many posters come onto these boards trying to find ways of wriggling out of repaying money that isn't theirs on technicalities and your posts could have been interpreted that way....
