Sounds like it was an emergency.....for some that equates an allowed spend. :D

Well yesterday turned into a spendy day.A local shop was having a sale before renovation work, and, apart from some future present buys at a 30-50% discount,I bought a beautiful silk blouse at half price. :o

Nargle glad that it turned out in your favour, without any added expense.

Ellieseleven yup, there's still loads of time to reach target. :D

    butterfly2507 9/10 one more to target! :j
Will it be today? How badly do you want that big mug of cocoa? :rotfl:
  • Totting up the numbers,we have a very respectable 185 nsds bubbling away in our special reserve Cauldron (thanks Igor!).
And,with 31 active participants,we have a cool average of 5.9 nsds each! :money:

Yesterday was NSD 11/20! I even went socialising at my friends, but just took diet coke I already had and drove, still had lots of fun! Today is shopping day so will get cash out for mothers day meal tomorrow today so I can stay on track! I do end up resenting spending money, worried Im getting tight and will be accused of having moths in my purse!!

  • #3 and #4 were achieved earlier this week, but with almost half the month gone, I'm not sure we will reach our target of 12 for the month.

LionessInWinter you still have 18 days left, including today, meaning that you also could have a whopping10
spendy days, and meet your target. :)

    You never know... :money:

Do you allow yourself allowed spends?

jodles16 if you've just started the challenge, maybe you're being a bit too tough on yourself. When I first started the challenge, any spend meant losing an nsd, which is pretty tough. So gradually dds, prescriptions, bills and rent etc became allowed spends,as I realized that these were non negotiable and out of my control.

I also am loath to meet people for a coffee in town. It's something that I just don't do on my own any more.Ok,maybe meeting up with someone once in a blue moon and having a coffee. It still rarely happens.
If you really feel that you're being reasonable, then don't let other people guilt you into feeling bad about how you choose to spend your money.

jodies, further to what marmite says, it is possible to cut out spending, repay debts, save up for something major, and yet still have a life. You can socialise as much as you want if you find ways of doing it for free ( e.g. invite people to your place for a meal or afternoon tea, provided with home made food using ingredients already in stock, going to watch open air events and taking your own food etc). And there is nothing wrong with going out to a cafe or restaurant now and then, just make it once a month instead of twice a week, it becomes more of a treat that way.
