PC warning scam - BT not Microsoft

Got one of the usual calls about a problem with my PC this morning but this one claimed to be from BT not from Microsoft. Not heard them use BT before.

I sometimes enjoy the "we are from Windows" scammers, you can have lots of fun with them. Good for a rainy day when you are bored.

Last week I got a Private on caller display and answer Indian called Alister(I asked who are you?), started asking me if I had BT? Wonder if it was the same idea? Total him no, never had a BT line and then P*ss off.

Older people though can find these calls very intimidating. Even when they know its not true.

I tell them I do not have a Computer.
  • I ask them which computer is supposed to be infected, causes all sorts of problems for them regarding their script.

It puzzles me why people even engage in any kind of conversation with a cold caller.

The clue to it being a scam is it is a cold call. The moment of realisation it is a cold call, why don't people just put the phone down?
It's like people get compelled or feel obligated to talk to them.

In the history of the telephone, has anyone ever received a cold call and benefitted in any way at all?

Having said that, I do occasionally give some verbal abuse in the hope it upsets them enough to put their notice in, and no, I don't think it cruel, I'd rather the whole company get shut down than plague me with scams, be it, Computer, PPI, Debts, Windows etc.

I think if I'm talking to them for 30 minutes whilst watching TV or eating lunch then that's 30 minutes that they are not scamming someone more gullible.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
