Has the timing belt or any tensioners been replaced since you bought the car?
Does it have FSH?
Usually a timing belt is replaced after so many miles or so many years (whatever comes first)
At what intervals do Skoda recommend yours is changed (mileage & years)All your base are belong to us.0 -
Its a timing chain, there is no maintenance on it, should last life of the car. Yes its got FMDSH.0

Mine is the 2.0L TSi.
For a couple of hundred quid I'd still have considered having it looked at.
Didn't someone I think Vauxhall have a problem a few years ago with their timing chains failing due to the oil feeder blocking?
Just because something should last the life of the engine doesn't mean it's maintenance free. One could argue yours has lasted the life of the engine if both are done for. However I would expect that to be more than five years.

Most people get no notice, I noticed a slight rattle a few weeks ago and had it booked in, they wanted it back the following week for further work but it failed a few days before it was due in. The failure happens when you turn the key.
Always puzzles me why people drive a car knowing something is wrong with it, Especially a rattle from the engine.
Although not quite as bad as those that said the oil light came on but they were only a few miles from home so carried on anyway.
Although i do remember one thread where they had the oil light on and had planned to get it checked at the weekend. Intended to use it for 4 days with the oil light on.
