There was a fault with the timing chain tensioner. Google it, its a Skoda, VW also have the same fault. The milage is 30k, the engine jumped the timing chain and all the valves are bent, the local dealer along with Skoda diagnosed a new engine due to cylinder head damage. My extended warranty company (skoda!) will not cover it as its a known inherent fault.

Is there any fix or recall for this known problem?

The part has been revised twice, but skoda won't pay for the preventative fix. It only applied to cars from 2009-2012. Some owners without full service history have had bills of 5k+. No recall as not a safety issue.

That shouldn't have made any difference to the life of the engine. It's should be designed to operate within the manufactures plated weight.

yes but the weight and the heavy use of pulling in and out of fields and travelling though fields does not help an engine

Off roaders seem to manage well enough, maybe you need to look at your driving style. :p

And the first you knew of the issue is when your engine failed?

Most people get no notice, I noticed a slight rattle a few weeks ago and had it booked in, they wanted it back the following week for further work but it failed a few days before it was due in. The failure happens when you turn the key.

well when you trade at country shows etc. which are always in fields and not flat fields taken with the weight it does not help any vehicle and you could not get my stock in the back of a landrover

yes. i was explaining that engines can go anytime and it does not means you should sue anyone.

Spicy McHaggis like all their other replies in other posts decided they would argue off topic
