  • We know your opinion. We know you dislike Apple. Everyone has seen your posts a million times and it is getting boring.

Any thread relating to Macs, iPads, iPhones etc and you are guaranteed to be there, spouting your usual rubbish about how "apples never break" etc.

And here we are again - thehorselady has broken her iPad and wants advice, and you are gloating about it.

It's not rubbish, it's informative. It's trying to get the message across that apple products are not these super duper machines that apple users like to portray.

Nope - not informative in any way.

    Opinionated certainly but not informative.

I would say you are right, so this post and yours have helped the OP in no way whatsoever.

It has been known for threads to go off topic on MSE:D
  • Check with your house insurance. It happened to us, we had to pay a £100 excess but they gave us a check for a beand new 1. £250.

    Don't you mean a CHEQUE?

Apple out of warranty Ipad mini repair is £156.

However that is rather a replacement with s refurbished produce rather than repairing yours and comes with a 90 day warranty.

Yes, it's not difficult to see why Apple have a vast fortune! The reason I asked about fixing in the first place was because this was a gift from my boyfriend and I don't want to tell him it's broke!

To be honest £156 for a repair is like highway robbery. I'll ring Apple in the morning and see what they say and then I'll see what my local iPhone store can do for me. He'll hardly notice.

I never said Apple was cheap, they charge a fixed price for a repair be it a $1 part or a $200 part. Depends on what's wrong its either cheap or expensive.

Depending on what's broken the touchscreen part costs around £10 to £15 with the LCD screen costing £40 or so. Does the LCD part look intact?

Ifix it do a repair guide See https://www.ifixit.com/Item/iPad_Mini_%281st_Gen_Retina%29_Front_Panel_Digitizer_Assembly or https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPad+Mini+Wi-Fi+LCD+Replacement/17230

However due to the size of the iPad its not an easy job to do and hence most repair places will change around £50 or so to swap a digitiser and £100 for the LCD.

Well spotted... I was just waiting to see who would spot that first...
  • Wow, not hard to see how Apple has amassed $120 billion cash mountain.

So, Apple will sell you a refurbished iPad for £156. It then repairs your one with a new screen at cost >£50? and then sells it to the next person for £156!

In your expert opinion, what should Apple charge for an out-of-warranty replacement? What do the competitors charge?

So people own Apple products think they're awesome, and you're trying to tell them Apple products aren't awesome, even though you don't own any?

If the people that own Apple products think they're 'super duper', then they're 'super duper'.

Do you realise how stupid that makes you sound?
