Got a "Final Reminder" letter from UKPC today, threatening debt recovery etc.. Dated the 8th, so sent almost certainly after they'd received my letter sent on the 2nd.
Do I send a second letter? Ignore? Submit an online response? Advice would be welcome.
Many thanks, NVM.0 -
put a complaint in to the BPA , that you are being harassed by debt collector letters whilst an appeal has been submitted, include a copy of the appeal and proof of postage, plus the other paperwork too
chances are the BPA involvement will focus their minds and they may well cancel it rather than have yet another investigation
it also creates a further paper trail0 -
Thanks Redx, something like this?Dear Sirs,
I was invoiced on the 24/03/2015 by your member UK Parking Control (ref number 1xxxxxxxxxxx, reg no. xxxxxxx) as the keeper of the vehicle for an alleged contravention on the 20/2/2015. I submitted a postal appeal on the 02/04/2015, yet today received a threatening "final reminder" dated 08/04/2015.
I believe such behaviour to be in breach of your code of conduct and would request you take the strongest steps possible in reminding your member of that fact.
I have enclosed copies of the initial notice to keeper, the latest reminder letter, my appeal and proof of postage.
Yours faithfully, Mrs. NVM0 -
I have also drafted this to send to UKPC:Dear Sirs
Re: PCN No. xxxxxxxxxxx
Registration xxxxxxx
Despite responding to your invoice of the 24th March, a copy of which, together with proof of posting is enclosed, I today received a second unsolicited invoice. I also enclose a copy of the letter sent today to your trade association, the BPA.
I refer to your own documentation which states that once an appeal has been made, you will consider it and reply within fourteen days. I appreciate that our letters may have crossed in the post, but take this opportunity to restate my position; either cancel the charge or issue me with a POPLA appeals code.
Yours Faithfully,
Mrs. NVM.
Your esteemed thoughts would be welcome.0 -

Got them both sent off on the 15/4.
Received a reply from the BPA dated 16/4, confirming that UKPC were members, and that they should have frozen the process whilst an appeal was pending. They suggested things may have crossed in the post, and that we should re-submit it.
Today received a letter from UKPC dated 20/4 acknowledging receipt of appeal and stating a response will be given within 35 days.
It's a bit frustrating that the original appeal was sent on the 2/4, and they would have received it on 3/4, and have managed to delay acknowledgement to the 20/4(which is still a mickey take as the BPA letter was answered four days quicker). Or does the clock run from the 2/4 as I have proof of posting at that date?
Back to waiting.
Cheers, NVM0 -
they were probably delaying until the Beavis case result yesterday
the 35 days is just a BPA "rule" that isnt enforced, so its back to waiting0 -

Yes, I'm sure they were.
I'm a little concerned that the Beavis case will mean I end up paying at the end of the day, but having got this far I'll see it through.0 -
Your circumstances are different to Beavis; you didn't overstay!NoddyVanMan wrote: »Yes, I'm sure they were.

No, that's true;
I have also engaged in the appeals process, rather than ignoring it and letting it get out of hand. We'll see what the initial appeal to UKPC results in, then POPLA, before getting too worked up with it.0
