Thanks again,
Yesterday I told him, on the rush that I will see what I can do. That was before going online. Today he said that I shouldn't call them or do anything, I registered and that's that. BUT, he wanted to let me know that now he will pay more and he is loosing a 75% discount or something,(l.e. more likely he was getting 25% discount for single person) and if I want to stay I would have to chip in...he was saying that it will be about £300+ per year so my rent would go up. Thing is I am entering the last month of my tenancy contract (6 months) so that's great for him, bad for me. I have to either accept a rise or find another place to stay.
It's appalling how he doesn't admit he is doing something wrong here, but only tried to justify by saying that he had problems before with people getting credit cards and the address going blacklisted and the trouble that followed with the bailiffs. At no point he admitted that he is just trying to save some money or at least that he did wrong. It's like treating me like an ignorant, spoon feeding me lies and reasons.
I know he is not paying taxes for the income from rent, he only wants cash and my deposit was spent from day 1 on his shopping rather then going into a deposit scheme.
If you can imagine, his uncle is living with him (obviously not paying anything) and that old man is not even on the list, he doesn't vote, but why would he care, the old man is only church-room-kitchen. Kinda sad.0 -
yep, so looked into it, and it appears that without the 25% discount the amount is 282.2£ extra. Big money saving expert he is...0

He's telling more porkies, addresses don't get blacklisted but the person does, maybe he's had a lot of post for past tenants eg final demands etc.0

Exactly it wasn't like a huge amount, but the thing is the 3rd person is not a lodger, is a member of the family who also is not on the electoral roll. Everything to save some pennies.Forgetting the type of LL how much extra are we talking about? The single person discount divided by the two lodgers won't be very much per week surely.0 -

This is a slight issue.
Written like a landlord. I believe cheating your way out of paying bills that fund vital public services really is terrible.
The 2011 Tsunami was a tragedy.Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870
Mortgage overpayments 2020: £4620
Mortgage 2017 £145K, June 2020 £112.6k

You have done nothing wrong, the Landlord is dodgy, I would start looking elsewhere to move.
After you have moved on, report him for the Counil Tax fraud and Inland Revenue.
He is going excuses but knows what he is doing!0 -
How dare the landlord expect anyone to be disenfranchised just so that he can fraudulently claim a discount on CT?
I'd look for somewhere else to live.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

This has nothing to do with being a landlord.
It was just written like someone who has a sense of proportion, which you seem to seriously lack.
Perhaps it also shows your lack of understanding of the meaning of the words you use.
