Hi Levi - hope you had a good evening. I spent a little time last night, opening a new current account online and they offered a CC with 0% balance transfer for 26 months which I never thought would happen in a month of Sundays
Your turn now.

Hope you had a great night last night with your brother and LL is over his little fall yesterday. I'm sure the Grandma spoilling treatment would have worked wonders!

We're home.
Long drive home but uneventful and LL was asleep for the last 1.5 hours so I've managed to get him straight into bed as it's business as usual for him tomorrow school wise (not for me, off work until Tues
).
Had a really good time at the weekend and feel a lot better having just been away somewhere different. I went to my brothers house last night and had a few beers and half a bottle of Yellow Tail but *still* didn't manage to bring up the money topicNevermind. I'm gonna keep on keeping on. Time will heal all. And my pride will be intact.
Had a good time catching up with him though and today my mother cooked the Lidl 3-fish-roast (no heads/eyes/tails in sight) for the sunday roast and my brother came back round with his o/h and my niece (5) so LL was able to get some time with her. Also totally forgot that his o/h is a barber! So she brought her kit over and was able to get both our haircuts sorted out
Feeling snazzy  And my sister came after lunch too with her husband so it was a big ol' family affair.
LL's left shin is bruised like  but he's fine. He had a nice weekend and was spoiled. My mum gave him £10 pocket money as we left so I'm going to put that aside for the easter holidays and then use it for something fun with him, maybe to go swimming or to a soft play place or something.
LL hasn't had any dinner due to being asleep but guess he'll just sleep through that. I had a quick couple of tortillas with tuna mayo. Must go shopping tomorrow, nothing else is here at all.
A letter from Natwest awaited me to inform me of the "default" overlimit cost  If I get the courage I may phone them up and ask if there is any chance of removing the £12 fee and not reporting the default to the CRA (apparently they are likely to for a 'first offence'). Is this use of the word default the same as the defaults people mention that stay on for 6 years? If so, seems a bit harsh. I'll see how I feel confidence-wise tomorrow or in the next few days. I won't be going overlimit again and have budgeted to ensure that - a £250 already sent to them, with another bit going over to them when around the 11th when I know more how everything is going for the month.
Totally exhausted from the driving and the busy weekend so having an early night - will catch up with ya'll properly tomorrow.- on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

Hi Levi, pleased to hear of your adventures this weekend and I am sure the LL will forget the unfortunate ones!
It is with Nationwide - I have had a savings account with them for some time in which I have been saving up for our holidays and took the plunge to enquire about current accounts in the branch and then took the brave step yesterday to try and open on line.
Now know my next step, thanks to our dear friend Lilty, and am excited again about money.
Be brave tomorrow and call Nat'wst.

Meal plan before you shop hun and go armed with a list. I had *nothing* in the house to eat tonight after a seriously trying evening... And all I fancied was soup. So I made it with a tin of chickpeas, tin of tomatoes, some pasta, lemon juice, sugar, garlic puree, chilli powder & some boiled lentils.... cooked for 20 minutes & I had an awesome dinner and there is enough left to feed the 5000.
Lovely to hear you had such a nice time, and that you can relax after the school run tomorrow. LL's shin will heal. Jelly is actually covered in bruises right now... kids are rough and tough.
Yes you need to call the Gnats Vest. Get the £12 removed once you have pointed out it was their interest charges that sent you there & if they had accepted your request to freeze it, you wouldn't have been in this mess. If you paid it off within 3 days of going overlimit then it won't be reported to the credit ref agencies anyway especially if it is a first time. There is always a grace period. They just don't tell you about it and charge you through the nose too. Sods.
Be brave tomorrow and apply for that basic account that you CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT be turned down for. There is no lose in this situation. It is guaranteed. So open it even if it takes you a month to get the courage to do anything with it ok.
Sleep well xx

Thanks Lilt for that soup combo - it sounds brilliant and I'll have to make some!
Levi I don't think even if that overlimit goes on your credit record that it's the same thing as an actual default that stays on for 6 years. It's confusing as they use the same word (probably intentionally!) but all it means is that you've broken their terms so it's the same effectively as a late payment that works its way off relatively quickly. But if you can get it waived so much the better so hopefully you'll be able to get that sorted over the phone tomoz.
Just one thing I wasn't sure if you're still using the card now? Hopefully you can avoid using it any more and get further and further away from the credit limit as the months go by.

Hi Levi
Glad you had a good weekend with your family and a nice break with LL!!!
I have a really easy and I mean really easy soup recipe for you. Will cost you around a £3 to make and should give you and LL 4 suppers each!! .
If you do not have to time to cut up all the veg you can buy it ready chopped up but that would make the supper so much more expensive. So please if you can take the time and include LL in preparing the veg yourself!!
1 whole bag of carrots 50p
1 swede or turnip or 3 parsnip (see what is on offer) 50p
4 onions (not the large posh ones) 40p
4 large potatoes (not expensive baking ones) 50p
4 leeks 70p
4 veg stock cubes 40p
These prices are based on Al*I but Li*l is similar!!
put some oil in a large sauce pan just enough to cover the bottom. Add all of the veg from the above list. Stir to coat all the veg in the oil. The add 4 stock cubes, a little salt and pepper. Add some dried herbs if you have some lurking in your cupboards. Finally add 2 pints of boiling water and let the whole thing simmer for about 30 minutes or until the veg is soft!! All done!!! If you find it a bit plain you could try and experiment with some chilli or other spice you have in your cupboards. Just stir occasionally to make sure it does not stick to the pan.
When it is all cooked you can mash it with a potato masher or if you have a hand held blender, whizz it all up adding a little milk to it from time to time until it is at the consistency you like.
I hope you do managed to have a go at making this soup Levi as it is so cheap to make and full of goodness!! Your total spend will be around £3 for 4 suppers. That's 75p for 2 bowls of soup!! Bargain!!
Have a good week!!

Thanks for the awesome soup tip Edwink... liking the sound of that, especially the price.
Going to brave Mr L for the whole shop in a little while, I shall report back.
Hummingbird -- no, not using the card at all now.. and nor shall I ever again. Thanks for the wise words on the 'default' - I suspected that might be the case.. and Lilty - thank you, as always you make me feel braveI will call and check that it won't affect my credit rating and maybe if they can take the £12 off, I did pay within 3 days.
I will report back with my shopping, the goal is £35!
A new week, a new month, lets go and rock it x:j

and Lilty - thank you, as always you make me feel brave
Couldn't have put it better myself, Lilty is awesome at doing this, I really think you need to consider it as a career choice Lilty - 'Lilty: Spreader of braveness'.
Glad you had a lovely weekend Levi, sometimes you just really need to be back with 'your people' for a while and be reminded of the safety net you actually have. I find that myself, anyway.
Sounds like the journey went well too.
Great news on the free haircuts! Not so good about poor LL's nosedive onto the concrete. Hope he's managed to forget all about it by now. As Lilty said, little ones are always covered in bruises, my DS comes home from school every day with bruised knees and shins, I don't know what he does.
Grrrr to Natwest too.
Have a lovely day off
