Item not delivered - eBay siding with seller?

Any help gratefully received!

I ordered an item on 28th Jan, on 6th Feb had not received so sent seller a message to check when/ how it had been posted. I then got told it had been lost by yodel, but the seller had posted it so it was not their problem. So I opened a case in the resolution centre, escalated it when time to do so but eBay have closed in the sellers favour as they provided a tracking number.

All this tracking number says is 'incomplete' & there was an address problem (seller has put wrong address on), it never once states there was an attempted delivery but customer services keep telling me there was! I've been told today that it has been returned to the sender, but eBay have told me that it's ok for the seller to keep the item & not refund me!

3 times I've rung now but can't get in touch with Dublin, is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance..

  • What is the tracking number?

    Yodel -
  • eBay have emailed me saying I can't challenge the verdict because I should have changed my address, & to check at the address it has been delivered to.. but I haven't moved house!
  • Tracking shows as delivered, that is why the seller won.

If you are disputing delivery, then appeal, but do it clearly and with some evidence.

Also get in touch with Yodel, it's hardly unheard of if they deliver anywhere they feel like and mark as signed for.

  • But I live in Leeds, not particularly close to Gateshead! Surely delivery should show as the same city that I live in?

Delivery needs to show a postal code or area relevant to your delivery. As we didn't know where you live we didn't know that was relevant and neither will eBay.

    Appeal.

Give them the local yodel offices closest to your address.

If none are Gateshead it shouldn't be an issue.

My worry is, you have not told the whole story here.......why did you mention the 'seller put the wrong address on'.....

    Keep to the facts.
  • I have told the whole story, I say the seller has put the wrong address as that was the only way I could imagine it has ended up in Gateshead; maybe I should have not made presumptions but as the tracking states 'address problem' I rightly or wrongly did.

I have not moved house for over 10 years, my address on eBay is the correct address, so I'm not sure what else I can do?

Never rule out any possibility if Yodel are doing the delivering. I had a parcel go from Manchester to Leeds that ended up in Glasgow for a week.

You miss the point. You are confusing things by stating you haven't moved for 10 years, that is NOT relevant and only adds to CS misunderstanding.

The seller won because the item shows as delivered.

Unless you appeal and state the delivery is from Gateshead but that is xyz miles from you and your local delivering depot is abcde then you won't gain anything.

Don't add anything else into the equation as it is irrelevant.
