Depends what phone you have and how much you are paying and do you need a new phone.
your contract will remain the same and you will continue to pay the same rate as all that has happened on upgrade period is the min. term has ended, you contract has not.
If the phone is fine it could be cheaper getting a SIMO deal0 -

thank you both.
Feel a bit daft asking this question- i usually get an upgrade before the minimum term has ended. I wanted to wait this time , and see what 02 could offer me.

As a side note, do you really need upgrading?

Nothing to feel daft about. You don't know unless you ask.Sigless0 -
I'm due an upgrade early March and went into o2 shop last week, they gave me a quote for an Iphone on refresh tariff. I pointed out that over 24 months it was £60 more expensive than buying one outright on PAYG and its supposed to be 0% APR to told them to stuff it and i'll go on sim only month by month then see what Sky offer me as I have Sky Tv when they start mobile network using o2.
now keep on getting calls from o2 trying to keep my custom but no deals other than whats available to Joe Public0 -

I don't understand. It's 0%APR from the cash price not from the discounted PAYG price.
Also, why would they offer a discount on an iPhone? Especially when the minimum term isn't even over yet.
If you are happy with the phone then going SIM only is a good thing but do it for the right reasons.0 -

Try the online chat with O2 - my wife has just upgraded and got a new iphone 5s, was suppose to be a £75 upfront cost but they waivered that and gave her the phone for free. Also got a £4 loyalty discount off a £33 a month contact.
They will never contact you, you need to contact them. Hope this helps.0 -
No, you call them when your are free to leave without charges. It can help if you get the PAC first to demonstrate the seriousness of your intentions.

thanks for posting this link. I actually spotted this when i posted my thread
. Do i need to upgrade? No i dont however i would like to.This will depend on what is offered to me- i am not prepared to shell out £50 odd a month just to have the latest shiny phone. I think this is way too much money, It would be cheaper to buy the phone outright.
Thank you for your advice

Thats sounds like a pretty good deal. I will certainly be contacting them at upgrade time. Fingers crossed they can offer me a good deal
