Strange about that. With my chemist they say it's harder to get the named brand at the moment than the generic.
Wonder if it has something about the original protected license allowing anybody to make it without paying a royalty having now run out.
That's right. After a certain number of years anyone can produce a generic version at a much lower price, though it still has to be stringently tested for quality and efficacy.
Doctors will then normally prescribe the generic product so not so much of the branded one will be used and wholesalers will hold a lower stock.
They can still run out of generic stock though if there is a problem with the manufacturers eg. a batch fails quality control or the factory has technical problems, etc.0 -

Yes, I will say it is something to do with the manufacturers. Last time well last month, my local chemist phoned the wholesaler when I was there before prescribing the branded. She just said they cannot get the generic version.0
