Well if a cure is found some private company will develop and market it. Normal people will never be able to afford it. In fact on some other forums many are convinced a cure has been found, but so expensive that only the multi millionaires can afford to buy it.
Bit like the Oil Industry... why in this day and age do we still rely so heavily on Fossil Fuels...... Too Much money at stake!!!0 -

Because they work so well? I could put a gallon of petrol in my little motor bike now and ride 86 miles to Dublin with herself on behind in little over an hour. How long would it take me to push the bike and passenger home? That's the amount of work a gallon of petrol can do, and all for little over a fiver. Fantastic.

A Honda 50 would get you there and back on a gallon. Appreciably more slowly, but less work than cycling. And that's why 150 years later, we're still in love with oil.
Apparently modern life was started by an ulster man. Sam Kerr from co. Down emigrated to Pennsylvania in the 1790s and took up farming. He found a deposit of salt on the farm and started selling it. As is often the case, oil lay close to the salt, which he sold off for lamps, having found out how to distill it. The rest is history, although herr Daimler and rudolf diesel had something to do with it as well.
So if our late lamented fascist NI22 was still here, he'd probably be blaming the prods for global warming.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

But what about green or other natural alternatives..... ? why have these not been better developed? What about cold Hydrogen Fusion... is it really not possible for the human race to develop it? or has it been developed and hid away by the oil industry??????????????????????????????????0 -

Oh no - you've been watching Back to the Future 2, interestingly set in 2015, with the Mr Fusion reactors.
I'm afraid the only thing green about that theory is the grass on the knoll.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

I'm an asthmatic and have to take 3 inhalers a month. I don't mind paying £1-£2 per item each month.
However I do mind having to pay for my prescriptions, when there are people sitting on their rear ends getting benefits handed to them for doing so, and can't be bothered getting jobs. Single parents who send their kids to school then go to the local cafe for their breakfasts, go out drinking every weekend, buy their cigarettes or have the latest mobile phones etc.
Now I'm not tarring all single parents with the one brush there by no means at all, but from working in a school where parents won't send in their child's dinner money or milk money, or £1 for a bun sale, cry poverty, yet they are dressed to perfection, can afford God knows how many cigarettes a week and can go out drinking every weekend. If they can afford all that, then they can afford to pay for their prescriptions:mad:
IMO Children and the elderly should be exempt from the charges. The elderly have paid their dues, they have worked all their lives and deserve to be looked after.
I know my mother couldn't afford to pay for her medication every month. She's on a basic state pension, and no extra money coming in at all. She worked all her life (from the age of 13) right up till retirement age of 65. She is now 75 and she has minor complaints which require medication every month. But you know what, she worked all her life, didn't- and still doesn't complain about it. She paid her stamp and she paid all taxes.
When my dad died when I was 9 she still had to raise me, and pay for everything. She got a widowed mothers allowance, I wasn't entitled to free school dinners, uniform grants etc she still had to pay for it all, and on top of that she lost a weeks wage on tax because she got the widowed mothers allowance. She in fact she got no help at all.
Yet I know people who get free dinners for their children - while they do the double and there's F all wrong with them.
Pensioners may get a pension, but it's pittance compared to what people claiming benefits get, and it's an absolute disgrace.
It's time the government pulled all benefits, Stop DLA for those who are too lazy to work, make recipients prove regularly that they should be getting it. Do spot checks etc.
As for the "jobseekers" and these wee "courses" that people can do to get their money, stop that, and make them go out and shovel S^^t for all I care. They need to earn their money.
I'm sick of working people like myself having to scrape by on our wages, yet it's OUR taxes that are paying for lazy people getting all these "benefits" It's working people and poor pensioners who get targeted all the time. And it's tome the government woke up and stopped it!
Also I think people should be charged for visiting the GP or A&E. Then the hypochondriacs who constantly take up GP/A&E times will know their a//e from their elbow and stop their whining and give the rest of us a chance when we need an appointment. Would cut down on waiting times and prescription costs and there would be less strain on the health service!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -

Recipients do have to prove quite regularly that they get it and spot checks are done, where there is suspicion. However the reason for someone being on DLA isn't always obvious and easy to spot, see mental health issues.
What s^^t would you like people to shovel? Sounds like you want the unemployed to do work that takes away from everyone elses personal and collective responsibilities. "Why should I put my litter in the bin when some unemployed scumbag will clean it up for free?".
Generalisations don't help. I'm all for strict appliance of the rules regards those who are claiming but not entitled but demonizing everyone on benefits is the wrong way to go about it.0 -

What if they're oul ones who never did any work when they were young?
What happened to that thread about the foreign man who wants to buy a house? Don't tell me someone said something outrageous?“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

I know one, she is over 70 and never worked her mother kept her and then she married late in life to an older man who was a pensioner. He died when she was in her early 60s. She gets £200 per week with all the different benefits.
The health minister said he wanted no exemptions, so that means pensioners and children will pay.0
