I know one, she is over 70 and never worked her mother kept her and then she married late in life to an older man who was a pensioner. He died when she was in her early 60s. She gets £200 per week with all the different benefits.
The health minister said he wanted no exemptions, so that means pensioners and children will pay.
I know we hear all these stories about living it up on the dole, but £200 is not mad money. Even a packet of fags a day is about 30% of that. (And 80% of that goes straight back to Number 11, Downing street.)“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
Just making the point that you can't necessarily buy the same paracetamol strength as would be prescribed - you can buy 200mg ones over the counter but can only be prescribed 500mg ones so can't compare the two.
Also i wonder if this discussion would even exist if the assembly hadn't decided to abolish prescription charges in the first place a few years ago.0 -

Are you sure? I have never seen paracetamol in any strength other than 500mg. The thing is though that you csan only buy a small quantity (16 I think it is) because people have been known to overdose on them and damage their livers. Larger quantities have to be prescribed by a doctor if needed for chronic conditions.
Maybe you were thinking of ibuprofen - that is 200mg over the counter but you need a prescription for 400mg.0 -

All this "mg" quoting is nonsense anyway.... if a Dr says I need to take 2x400mg Ibuprofen tablets (i.e. 800mg) I'd imagine this is the same as taking 4x200mg Tablets (again 800mg).... so No you don't need prescription ibuprofen or paracetamol.....0 -
You can buy 400mg Ibuprofen in the Boots.0

makes sense, don`t it?0 -
Now here is the thing. One tablet I have to take I was on the generic version, no problem if it works I take. So repeat prescription for the past two months and no one can get the generic version so they have to give me the brand name. Tried a few chemists and told the wholesaler cannot get stock.0
