Do you have more details about the digital secure key thing as that would be useful.

I had an internal message about it a couple of weeks back. It says nothing more than has been on their website for ages now - basically they are introducing the digital secure key and they will contact you when it's available to you

Ok, thanks. Looks like it uses the app on your phone to do the job instead.

Thanks HSBC, lets see how many months they pay the £10!!!

12 months from 1 March according to their T&C/web site.

HSBC will make additional interest payments for a maximum period of 12 months from the date of the customer’s first eligible payment or lump sum payment of £300 or more, whichever is earlier. HSBC’s additional interest payments will not exceed £120 in total. The Save Together offer is only available once

    Regards

It can be very attractive for all sorts of people, for example:
    1. those that would never max their ISA allowance - which is the vast majority of all cash ISA holders.
    2. those who normally put much or all of their ISA allowance into an S&S ISA
    3. those who can transfer just £300 from a previous year ISA

If all you put in is £300, the interest rate is some 40%. For the average cash ISA saver, who has no more than £7,000 in their ISA, the interest rate would be 3.2% - hard to beat by any other instant access cash ISA in the next 12 months.

People need to do their numbers to see whether it is worth their while.

I'll put £300 into the HSBC cash ISA myself on April 6th, and my remaining £14,940 into my S&S ISA on the same day. Once I have got the 120 from HSBC in April 2016, I'll transfer that ISA into my S&S ISA - unless HSBC make me another irresistable offer at the time.
    Hi Colsten, been reading this thread with interest;I have Advance, they auto upgraded my existing account a few months ago.I then took out 2x 250 pcm 6% savers, me and OH;
had my notification of this isa, weeks ago, just looked on here to see the details.I've used up 14>.15 allowance and am looking at 15>16 isas::.aren't you having 2 isas ? hsbc £300, and S&S, ?(whats is S&S) ??is it monthly HSBC saver isa? Don't really want to take full Isas out straight away in April as considerring 4 x NS&I 65+ bonds at the moment. Been with HSBC for 60 years + and rarely do they give much away.

Yes thats right. Using the HSBC mobile app, theres just an option to "Generate Code", you enter a password (another bloody password to remember), and it generates the code.

It is the same as FD.
  • I've only just found out about this today when I got a pack of info through the post to say they are upgrading my account to Advance on 9th April.

Do I assume I have to wait until 9th April to open a Save Together? I'm guessing that I do or can I open one now and delay paying in until 9th April?

Also, as I have a joint account with hubbie, it appears we can have one each!

    All sounds rather good.

I will let you know in a week. My account is auto being upgraded at the end of March, however I have preemptively opened up the ISA as I am transferring. When the transfer is complete I will phone them up and find out what will happen.

The offer runs from March 1 for 12 months. I imagine if you open one in April then you will get 11x £10 payments instead of 12x due to missing the first month.

rather confusing isn't,t it ! if you open one now, it would mean you have not got this years, or, as I read it, you have this years or earlier, and want to transfer it to hsbc, getting 1.5 per cent and £10 per month bones on top , or, you lose a month by waiting till 15/16 year ?
