Some of the Camera's being mentioned are a bit on the large/obvious side, probably OK if you leave your car somewhere safe but there are others that are much more difficult to see from the outside.
I've had a Mini 0801 installed for 14months now and its never failed. Only £42 delivered on Amazon (from E-prance) plus the cost of a memory card.

I'd like to do this but MSE has revised its guidelines on sticky threads.
The best I can do is include a link in the sticky thread called "Motoring Board Important Threads including Ford Radio codes" (which I've just done).0 -

Its silly how we get one sticky for the whole subforum while other sub forums have upto 6.0 -
that one has been updated to the 0803 and more recently 0805. The mount is probelematic on the 0801 where it was too large for the camera and would wobble in its mount too much (now updated with new mount older retail boxes do contain the old mount). the 0803 seems to overheat in hot temp countries and lose its firmware if its not secured into the mount properly it gets power surges to chip and fries it, 0805 has address the previous issues. E-prance are pretty good at helping you on amazon but never send it back it costs too much minimum youll spend sending it back is £15.00.Some of the Camera's being mentioned are a bit on the large/obvious side, probably OK if you leave your car somewhere safe but there are others that are much more difficult to see from the outside.

Theres trade offs with dashcams.
Some are fixed with a pad to the screen, OK but it will entice a criminal to look further for it and smash the window to go intot he glovebox. you can make suction mounts for any dashcam if you have the creativity and extra money to spend out on the accessories on amazon.
some hove good day footage but poor night footage.
some have poor audio some have good audio.
some have dark images in the day some have too bright images in the day.
the reviews on techmoan youtube are pretty honest.0 -

Which Roadhawk are you looking at? I picked a Roadhawk Ride for about £130 (in a past Halfords sale).
I use it on my motorbike though, nice a small for sticking to my helmet. Does the job well. Only downsides are battery life sucks in cold weather. When it gets down to 5C or less I barely get 30mins out of it, compare to 80min odd on a warm day. Secondly I've had naff all luck wiring it to bike battery and sticking to fairing. Keeps cutting out; not sure if it vibration or power supply fluctuating too much.
However none of these will be an issue in the car. Will happily run off a USB fag light socket and stuck to dash board. No hassles with bright LED's causing reflection off screen either.
One final niggle, is the MOV files it creates can't be playing in Quicktime/iMovie straight off. VLC handles them fine, but I have to slam them through HandBrake to transcode before using them in iMove.0 -
I have the E-Prance G1W, excellent piece of kit for the money, and easy to remove and hid in the glovebox or in your pocket when you leave the car, a review for it is here, the quality is excellent, only downer ive seen is the battery isnt brilliant so i keep mine plugged in (lasts about 45 mins):beer:0

RoadHawk ride for the bike which is good in the day time but weak in the dark.
In the car i have a mobius dashcam, which is good in both daylight and at night time (and half the price of the roadhawk - but isn't waterproof).
techmoan.com has a good review of it.0 -
I've not had much luck recently with another driver going through a red traffic light and hitting me (still with insurer assessing the liability, 6 months on) and a few weeks ago where someone dented my passenger door by opening (whacking) their door in a staff car park.
If I had a dash cam that had motion detection to record any activity, I could have identified the person...
Is there a dash cam that can be used continuously via battery (or via a USB external battery/charger)?0 -

I was comparing the top of the range Roadhawk to top of the range Nextbase.
The MOV software is easily down loaded to play the files. I am very technically inept and i found it very easy to get the footage to playback on my laptopjust because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you0 -
I've had two Dash Cams now for the last 6 years, can't remember the first one. The current one is Blacksys CF100 which is not too big and had no problems with it so far. It has parking mode which switches over after a set time and operates when someone trips it. Caught a Burglar breaking into neighbours at 5am one morning and the images were pin sharp as its HD. Police loved them.
Just bought a HP F500G, nice size, well made with GPS. £139.99 for my sister in laws 40th. She asked for one.0
