Stop listening to whatever whoever says. Check your online account, your bills and your other paperwork.

so next week you upgrade with them or get a PAC and move to a new provider or just remain as you are and continue to pay them.
If you leave without a PAC then you will need to give them 30 days notice

If you leave next week with PAC or without you'll pay for the next 30 days because you didn't give a notice 30 days earlier.
The earliest date you can leave without wasting money is in 30 days if you give a notice or get a PAC today.

Keep the old phone, unlock it and switch to a SIM only deal with a one month min term, say £10 a month? You can then save £24 per month towards a new phone and buy it outright once you've saved enough.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
